How big of an impact does the number of former players getting pro contracts (at the AHL and NHL level) have? IMO it really depends at what level - there is a huge difference between getting a 1-way NHL deal (you get paid the NHL contract amount versus a 2 way contract that pays much less if you go...

For BigDog and other former players

1. How much does the coaching staff's relationship with players and percieved coaching ability hamper recruiting? How do you think Scott has done in this area? 2. It has been said that the current administration (President) does not support hockey and that the program will never regain it's past glo...

Other than facilities and recruiting budget, what other "committment" can be given by the administration that impacts the success of the program? That has been mentioned before and I belive that was how Buddy felt - that his upward potential with the program was limited by this but I never...

He offers a recent approach that I appreciate. Back in 1996 there was a question as to whether or not Buddy should stay - at that time the program had slid enough that peoiple were pushing the panic button, rightly so, IMO. 10 years later the program is worse off. People say Scott is a great coach a...

IMO, this personal stuff has to stop. If "bigdog" played at BG, he's got a right to his opinion. I could care less which Senior from last yer he is - that is irrelevent. Bottom line, the record under Scott is not good. Don't get me wrong - I hope Bigdog is wrong because I want Scott and th...

Cool- too many hot tempers on this board lately. Actually the sports business is different from the business world in the interview process which is good I guess if you are in coaching - more of an open process IMO.

As I posted over the Summer - in the past 17 years, BG's "average" finish in the CCHA was a little less than a 6th place finish. No NCAA bids. Is that acceptable/reasonable or not? If not - what are our expectations for this program?

Sports are different - more on the up and up. The usual protocol is to work with yourcoach. They expect you to move on when given the opportunity. No need to get personal on the last poster's opinion. He did know what he was talking about.

I am sorry what do you mean by they had little time to put the recruiting class together. They had a full season and a summer, the same as every other class in the NCAA. Not sure what you are talking about or why you are posting such a weak arguement for poor recruiting You also have to realize tha...

I have a another quick point to state. You claim on your own post that the 6 players that quit weren't good anyways. Ok, if I agree with that point. That means that 6 of the 10 players brought in that year weren't good enough to play Div1 hockey. Isn't recruiting a major part of coaching? It was Pa...

Voakes and Hanson also left. I saw both of them play. They were in over their heads and really didn't have the skills needed to play at this level. You have to realize that a lot of the players coming in are recruited walk ons meaning that they'll be given a look but no guarantees. They're coming i...

Cool I like optimisim but with a 12th place finish why is that? Recruiting, player relations, game day decisions?

A few random thoughts.. 1. The personal stuff is pathetic. 2. IMO, a 12th place finsh is evidence enough of a poor pefromance and the "burden" should be on those who think Scott and Ron are good and will do well need to provide evidence to support their postions (injures etc). I look at th...

Matso is # 18. A quick read - no OSU, ND, UNO or NMU players which is interesting.
