Nice to hear the love for Wisconsin fans. For what its worth: at the 2006 game, a former colleague and friend (a BGSU alum, the same as my wife and I), hung out at the tailgate sponsored by one of the UW message boards and the Great Lakes Brewery and was treated very well and plied with beer ...

Some of you may want to stay out by the Mall of America. A number of decent hotels and you can connect to downtown Minneapolis via the Hiawatha Line light rail. The Metrodome has its own stop, and its about a 30 minute ride from the mall, plus, free parking. While out on Nicollet Ave. (the main drin...

I guess those Rose Bowl wins after our titles after the 93 and 98 were Truman Show-style hoaxes, then? Should we give the trophies back?

Fool.

If you think Clemson is a better atmosphere for college football than Madison....

-expletive, expletive, expletive. How many Clemson fans can actually read their own ticket stubs?

I guess you really don't get out much.

If you are going to mock a UW school, River Falls is a good candidate (or its "sister" school in Platteville). It's primarily an ag/math/science school, with no party scene and the quality of women you would expect at such a place. The women in that picture (especially the rather hefty one...

Tickets are available first-come, first-serve on Ticketmaster. The UW ATO has some available, but most Badger fans are going through Ticketmaster (the ATO has a reputation for suckiness, and any chance to boycott them is a good thing--we also don't exactly need to prove our road trip presence to Bow...

Two things: 1. Minnesota is lucky to get 35K to 40K at home games, so there is no possibility that thousands of Gopher fans will be beating down the door trying to scrounge up tickets. They will be lucky to sell their allotment--but it could be worse, IU couldn't even sell their allotment of tickets...

At a bar in Stevens Point watching the game with my wife (I love not having to teach tomorrow!!-thank you UW-System policy).

We will be the only people caring about the game, but a summers worth of drinking at the place will guarantee I get to watch.

And yes, in spite of Sept. 2, I am a BG fan.

The Stadium Bar (literally across the street from Camp Randall) is also open at 8am. And Parthenon uses lamb. Ordering preferbaly done "gyronotomatofrymountaindew" (of, course alter to fit your preferences)--no breaks between the items. If you do, you sound like a yuppy. I wish they would ...

Well, we'll be in Section AA wearing our Beat Wisconsin shirts probably. I don't know about right after, but the Taste of Madison is going on this weekend, so we'll probably head there. http://www.madfest.org/taste/ There's also a corn maze north of Mad in Lodi that looks pretty interesting. You ca...

All I know is grad students and faculty I associated with (History, Psych, Soc., PoliSci) thought he was a feeble stuffed PC shirt (and most of this people are liberals). They also basically hate administrators (especially those with "Higher Ed" degrees, and I can't blame them).

I get the feeling someone didn't like Ed Whipple.
I'll second that. Ah, memories. Bad ones.

Dayon,

I was a faculty member at Grand View in Des Moines for three years after leaving BG with my PhD, but left when my wife (also a BG alum) was offered a job here (where I got my BA) and now teach and advise. I would highly recommend "hitting the streets" to find fun, not hang out at the hotel...

Myles,

Thanks--will do.

Dayon,

About the beers--I'm not sure about the BC one, but I've never seen Boulevard here. Good stuff, one of the only positives of previously living in Iowa.

I've always been more of a pre-game bar crawl guy, actually. The Stadium Bar, the Big 10 Pub, and the Regent Street Retreat open at 8am on Saturday. All are good options. If you get there early enough , you can park at the Frances Street ramp, which is a nice hike from Camp Randall, but is literally...
