Seems like I just did one of these, but I guess before you all start asking "Wow, I wish I knew more about that witty guy TG1996!", I'd give ya a place to find it that didn't involve begging Grant to dig out of the old site's rubble.

My name is Tony Gaver, and I graduated in May '96 with a BA in Communications. While at BG, I was a member of the BG Radio Sports Organization, where I got the chance to broadcast basketball, football, baseball, hockey and even soccer games (when they beat Indiana!), which took me to many road games. I think I went to every campus in the MAC at the time, except for Akron. I also made trips to the hoops win over OSU, and football games at Navy, Missouri (the first win in '95) and NC State. Definitely some of my best memories of college!

I lived in Harshman Quad my first two years, in Offenhauer West in 94-95, and in the green house on the corner of Ridge and Main during my senior year and the summer that followed. During that year, you could catch me without fail at the Downtown crab races every Tuesday night. We went back a couple years later, and I think we definitely caught them in their prime. I
also spent the better part of a year and a half delivering pizzas for the now-defunct East of Chicago Pizza on N. Main Street.

After graduation, I moved to Columbus, and have lived here for almost 7 1/2 years, working for two different TV stations and doing some freelance production work, including a show for *ugh* OSU football. That all comes to an end on August 14th, though, as I'm moving to Indianapolis to work for the NBC affiliate out there.

I have an uncle that graduated from BG in the late '60s/early '70s, and a younger brother who got an English degree in Dec. 2000. Oh, and in my free time, I'm the father of a 9 month old website, haveyoumettony.com.

Any questions? :D

Mmm, East of Chicago pizza. I really wish they were still around. I was totally surprised when they went out of business--I thought I was doing enough to singlehandedly keep that from happening.

Yeah, well with the management that ran that place, I don't think even Tom Amstutz could keep it from folding. They were good to me while I was there, but the management skills left a little to be questioned.

BTW, my bio should now include that I'm a Hoosier. 6 1/2 days and the people around me have me longing for Northwest Ohio...

Sorry to hear you are already missing NW Ohio but I think you'll like Indy once your settled there. Channel 13 seems to have the best local Sports reporting, especially IMS related events.

Oh, I've missed NW Ohio (or at least parts of it!) for almost 8 years now, I lived in Columbus since April '97, now off to Indy. I know I'll like it, I'm already pretty familiar with the town and have friends out here, so that's good.

I hear Channel 13 has a pretty kick-ass new evening editor, too! Coolest guy you'd ever wanna meet.

If only he wouldn't hold up his fantasy football league's draft by taking hours to make his picks... :D

So, we've got that position covered, we've got a BG Alumna as the program director at Fox36.... sounds like we're infiltrating the Toledo media pretty well. Know of anyone else??

Wrong Channel 13, G. I thought we had this discussion yesterday... *laugh* As much as I may try, I don't know that the media-types in Indy will take too much to covering BG on a regular basis. :?

TG,

If you start covering more BG sports, I'll be a WTHR viewer forever! Heck most mornings WISH-TV doesn't even cover sports.

Tell your bosses you are getting considerable pressure from Indiana's State Treasurer Tim Berry, a BG grad!!!

Dave Calabro used to work in Dayton and can probably provide some back-up for this coverage.

Well, seeing how hard it was to get any BG highlights on when I was a Sports Producer in Columbus, I think we might have to wait until the Ball State game to see BG down here. Though I think there *is* another BG grad somewhere in the newsroom, so maybe we can start building our numbers from within!

Now about my taxes....

I'm not the State treasurer so I can't help you there. You'll pay considerably more to plate your car, unless Ohio has changed it pricing dramatically.

I guess I'll have to wait until the Ball State game for any BG Highlights.

damn!

and I've heard rumors on the license plate deal, though I'm still not clear how it works. Ohio is still around $50, but I've heard that Indiana can get pretty pricey to throw tags on a new car (not that mine is new, thankfully!)

It looks pretty good dude.
I like this:
57. I hate the movie previews they put at the start of DVDs.
58. Am I going to care in 20 years that "Mission to Mars" or "Deuce Bigalow" is coming out on DVD next April? Nope.

Thanks, kdog! The more I look at it, the more I think I'm gonna keep the same design (and color scheme) for another "project" I'm workin on...

And I really, really, really do hate those things at the start of DVD's. I understand the copyright and "piracy is bad" things more than I do the previews, but if you're not gonna let me skip to the menu from that page, do you have to have it up for that long?
