And I really, really, really do hate those things at the start of DVD's. I understand the copyright and "piracy is bad" things more than I do the previews, but if you're not gonna let me skip to the menu from that page, do you have to have it up for that long?

These comments wouldn't have come from watching the High Fidelity DVD, would they? Because they are the previews on that movie (and more than likely more than a dozen others), and it drives me crazy.
I'm sure nobody will probably notice this post, but I just thought I'd say "I feel your pain" and then move on.

Oh, absolutely! Especially the deleted scene where he goes to buy that woman's husband's collection of 45s. I cannot imagine what I would do if faced with that situation.
Also, if you haven't yet, try making some top 5 lists like Rob does in the movie. It's like therapy, but free!

That scene seems vaguely familiar, I'll have to pop in the DVD later tonight for a refresher.
I've never done it myself, but I know others around the site here have come up with top 5 topics every now and then (favorite athlete, best QB, favorite memory, etc.) Might be fun to make that a regular feature around here.
I was just thinking last night how I kind of want to go back through some of Nick Hornby's books again. Fever Pitch, High Fidelity and About A Boy were such good books, and they did great jobs with the film adaptations. (Except for the thought of the Jimmy Fallon abortion of "Fever Pitch"! )

Admittedly, I didn't know High Fidelity was a book first, but after watching some of the DVD extras and finding out, it's on my "Top 5" list of books to buy.
I may just go out and pick up all three that you just mentioned, if the other two are as great as High Fidelity was.

"A Long Way Down" is his latest, and while there were parts (I think, it's been awhile since I read it) that kind of dragged, overall, it was another very good effort.
He's got a pretty good non-fiction book or two out, too, but I can't think of the name of it. However, from what I've heard "How To Be Good" is to be avoided.
