All about the eRichFalcon

I kept meaning to do this, and now that I should be mowing the lawn and doing laundry and things on my day off work, its seems like the best time.

My name is Erich Koerner, though must of my friends call me E-Rich, pronounced E (as in the letter) Rich (as in having a lot of money) due to the spelling of my name. I'm 19 years old (born in '87) and about to be a "continuing freshman" at BG, because I fell 1 credit short of sophomore status, but that's a whole different story.

My path to Bowling Green is a very roundabout one. I was born in Maryland, lived there for about a year, lived in Norwalk, Ohio from 1988-1993; Harrington, Delaware from 93-95; Springfield, Ohio from 1995-2000; and Perrysburg since 2000.

In my formative years in Springfield, my dad's hometown, I developed as a sports fan. I loved the Cincinnati Reds, and even attended their 1-game tiebreaker playoff against the Mets in 1999. I also grew to love, and still do, The Ohio State University. However, I will say that I have rooted against them twice in my life, and those games were in '03 and '06...I'll let you figure out the rest.

Strangely enough, I also attended school in Springfield with Kevin Mahoney, who just transferred away from our football program (and played indoor soccer with my little sister back in the day), and current BG safety Vince Corner, who was far and away the most athletic 12-year-old I ever saw, just before I moved up here.

After I moved to Perrysburg, I slowly fell in love with BG, both the school and the athletics. I attended a few games. I watched the College Gameday at BG. I found out about Mr. Spots and Myle's Pizza. Many of my older friends from work (the Showcase Cinema in Maumee - I'm still there, feel free to stop and say hi) attended BG and had nothing but great things to say. When it came time for me to apply, I knew where I was going.

I started last fall as a Computer Science major, realized what I had gotten myself into and switched to education, which is what I had planned on from grades 8-11. Now the plan is to teach English to high school kids. If I graduate in 4 years (unlikely) I'll be in BG's centennial 2010 class. More likely, it will take a little longer, but I'm in no particular rush. I've got a fun school and a fun job and I'd have to say things are pretty stellar.

If you're still reading at this point, I'm amazed, but thank you. See you at the game, and go Falcons!
