Hi guys (and gals)! My name is Kara, which I'm sure you all have figured out by now...hehe. I am a junior at BGSU majoring in Integrated Language Arts. I usually just tell people I'm a secondary English education major, since nobody seems to understand the fancy terminology. I spent most of my childhood living in Ostrander, Ohio. It's a really really small town which wasn't famous for anything until Ben Curtis won the British Open two summers ago (Ben who?
Growing up I hated sports. I was never athletic and therefore never felt the need to watch anything but my brother's little league baseball games and basketball games. I was musical. I played saxophone in band from 5th grade on. In high school, I was in my high school's marching and pep bands. So, I watched SOME football and basketball, but most of the time during the games I was talking with my friends and doing nerdy band things. It didn't help that my HS's football team sucked. The basketball team was good, but yeah...lol. I'm sure you are all wondering why I don't march anymore. The answer is simple...I have really bad knees. High stepping would be the death of them. I miss marching more than ever, but now I can actually see the product of what I did for the best four years of my life!
I began to enjoy sports my freshman year of college here at BG. My roommate is the BIGGEST sports fan ever, I swear. Every Saturday, all day, during football season, there would be some sort of football game on. She actually got me to go to my first football game. And from that moment on, I was hooked on BG football. The story is the same for BG basketball. She was a diehard basketball fan, and brought me to my first college basketball game. As for my obsession with BG hockey, that I developed on my own. I have a bunch of relatives that live in Upstate NY, where hockey is a big thing. So, I just kinda picked up on the hockey love.
I love going to BG sporting events now with my friends. I still have two more seasons of BG football here, and many more to come back for. I can't really think of anything else to say, but if you want to know more, I guess you can ask me questions in here or you can IM me!
