Findlay Falcon

Post by FindlayFalcon »

Hi all. My name is Nancy Runta. Unlike many of you, I am not a BG grad. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University back in the dark ages. I grew up in the state up north but moved to Findlay soon after my marriage due to my husband's transfer to Ford Autolite. I taught Special Ed for many years (during which time I met Falcon Fanatic) and also raised two kids during that time. When it came time for our son to attend college he chose BG. We liked the idea because it was close. Being a sports nut, I began attending many of the games (hockey, football, and basketball). Our daughter decided to attend BG also but moved out to California a year later. (Much too far away!!) In 1985, our son was selected to be Freddie Falcon. At that time we got season tickets to hockey and held those seats for the next 18 years. (Most of those years were spent sitting next to Falcon Fanatic and BG Fan). When Dave was Freddie, we followed the football team to Fresno for that awful game but made up for it when we traveled to Fresno the second time (without Dave) to come home with that fantastic win. I retired from teaching in 1998 and we now spend our winters on Sanibel Island in Florida. I do miss attending many of the games but thanks to the internet, I listen to all of the hockey and football games and many of the basketball games. I'm sure some of our neighbors wonder what all those cheers :D and sometimes offensive language  are coming from our house. Thanks to Grant and this website and the Ay Ziggy tailgates, I have enjoyed BG sports even more.

Oh and one last thing that makes me special--my husband and I are the godparents of Falcon Fanatic and BG Fan's two kids. How cool is that?? :D

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

I don't know how big Sanibel Island is, but I've got family from outside Columbus that live there most of the year. (And they'd probably be the first to comment on your obscenity-laced Falcon listening, too!!! )
