I figured since everyone ELSE is taking off the mask, and making their SECRET identity, their ONLY identity, I would too. WAIT! scratch that! Reverse it!

I am a freshman at Miami University. I root for the RedHawks. I BLEED Red and White. If you bleed green and white, you REALLY should see a doctor....
Orange and brown blood? Yeah should probably see a doctor too, but ONLY if your REAL blood is that color. If it is, your probably dead....

I am in the Miami Marching Band. I play clarinet. I LOVE band. yeah, I am THAT guy. I LOVE pregame.Warning to all, DON'T MARCH DRUNK. IT NEVER WORKS OUT! Well, my name is Jared.

I go to every Miami sporting event I can. I am a HUGE Tennessee Vols fan. I get to go to The Summitt next year. VERY happy about that. Well, you have any questions, feel free to ask. Oh, and Miami is the BEST school in Ohio. No offense..... my 30,000 bucks goes A LONG way.(BG ranks a distant 2nd or so....)

I am VERY random. Well, ask me something.... anything....

It must not go that far, otherwise you would have known "a long" is two words. :P

Well, let me see... My Family has been in Ohio for 200+years. and in the Americas since the Mayflower landed. They have been teachers and various other things since. Most have attended Miami. Practically ALL have at LEAST two degrees from Miami University. I was JOKING about the best school. Miami isn't. It is statistically the BEST public school(in fact tied with Ohio State.) I know BG is an amazing school. I have stated this genuinely previously in another post.

As for the sports questions, I was BORN a Redskin. The last time I checked Miami's archrival was Ohio University. What are those Bobcats' colors again? OH! I know! Green and White! I KNOW who's colors are Brown and Orange, LOOK AT THE COMPUTER MONITOR!

Yes, before 1996 the Miami University sports teams were known by the nickname, Redskins. It was changed because the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma requested it.

The 2003-2004 team included, Alfonso Hodge, Jared Parseghian(Ara's great grand nephew), Ryne Robinson, John Busing, Matt Pusateri, Terna Nande, Michael Larkin(Ben's Roommate if memory serves.), I can keep going......

And the QB before Ben ROETHLISBERGER was Mike Bath? I think that is correct, and that is only because John Schacke injured his ACL. I am not a dolt. I DO know my stuff. I didn't HAVE to ask my band friends. I doubt many would know the quarterback questions. Miami IS the Cradle of Coaches. Miami has more MAC Championships than anyother team.

BG is STILL an amazing team, with a PROUD history. The Brown and Orange are GOOD colors that are worn with rightful pride.

:)

Is that good enough?

I don't believe she was doing anything more than being a bit sarcastic. Sense of humor?

No offence taken, but you probably don't mind when they say MAC conference do you. Mick is only used to describe Irishman. So therefore your cousin is just an Irish Irishman

hmmm. That is DIFFERENT. He must really LOVE being Irish. I think my family liked suppressing the Irish in the old world....

Ho hum. Does that make me a war criminal?

Yes, Miami, we do love being Irish.

And PGY, I only said Irish for those who weren't familiar with the term. It bothers me very much when they say MAC conference. :P

That is not necessarily correct. There was a new group (of women) voted onto the Board of Trustees who made it their mission to change the name. The Tribe was eventually asked to send the letter. Prior to that time, the Tribe had written many letters to the University stating their support of the old name. The Chief even showed up in full dress when Miami played Oklahoma State in the 80's.

One Trustee, an alumni with deep pockets, resigned over the matter. It was disgraceful the way it was handled. Never have I seen anyone at Miami treat the "Redskin" moniker with disrepect (no tomahawk chops or cartoon character mascots) - I know the student who was Chief Miami my first year in grad school - an architecture student and part Natvie American. He took being the mascot VERY seriously.

It would be interesting to know if the University still provides the 20 full-ride scholarships to the tribe.

Miami - have fun here but Be nice - I am also a Miami alumni and since you're an architecture student - I would hate to have to give Sergio a call about a rowdy student just as your about to enter his history class next fall. :D He led my thesis and he will make you bleed - in case you haven't already seen the bodies of all the sophomores lying around Alumni.

It is my understanding that anyone from the Miami Tribe that wishes to attend Miami recieves a Full Scholarship, if they get it in. One of the professors here is the son of the Chief. He is the head of a department, I just don't remember which. I was simply stating the information I have recieved. I would FULLY support moving BACK to the Redskins. I want Chief Miami back, and from what I understand many other Miamians do too. In fact, the Tribe made the Ceremonial Spear, the Traditional outfit, and some other things. The Tribe is VERY supportive of Miami. Many other schools cannot say the same. Miami has an AMAZING relationship with the tribe. 8)

I thought it was very impressive a few months ago win the "Governator," Arnold, refused to force all the high schools to change their names if they were "offensive to Native Americans." That takes quite a bit cajones in this PC-world...and I'm even a Democrat...
