Let me introduce myself...
Hi, as you may have learned I am the father of an incoming freshman. We live outside Philadelphia.
I graduated from a small liberal arts school in Reading, PA. I am part owner of a video production company. I also direct three bell choirs at our local UCC church.
My wife works in the financial industry. She is a graduate of UConn.
My older child will be a senior at UConn. My daughter will be a BGSU Falcon come this August. She will be studying Tourism Administration. I figured she would figure out how to be in the school of leisure studies.
I enjoy all sports, especially football. Philadelphia Eagles, University of Michigan Wolverines, UConn and now BGSU are my favorites.
I follow drum corps closely. Two favorites are the Cavaliers and JSU Spirit.
I like cheap beer and fine wine.
That's it. Thanks for the great board!

Thanks...
Yep...good beer is wasted on me. In fact for the one year (oh, please let it be one year) that I have two in college at the same time I have dropped down to cases of Natty Light.
I'll wait until you recover.
I already like the area very well. It is very flat, I will say that. We drove around the town during orientation and foud some of the homes stunning. The town is nice.
I think the campus is very pretty, much prettier than the U of Tennessee which we visited right after our tour of BGSU.
We stay in Perrysburg when we come out which will be again in another month or so. I have friends who have lived in Toledo and Findlay. They fill me in on the area and what to see.
Thanks again!

Welcome to the board and to the light. i was and still am a huge michigan fan but you'll learn to allow that to take a back seat to Falcon athletics, at least for 4 years, hopefully longer.
Are you coming into town for the temple game? My sister and her husband live in Philly (I love the city and have been there many times) and they are planning on returning the trip I made for last year's game. I think I should try to bribe you or 87 into bringing me a provie with from Pat's....I could reward you handsomely...

Jacobs4Heisman,
We will not be there for the Temple game but I think we will be in town for the Ohio game.
I actually have always gone to Geno's instead of Pat's. I love an American wit myself.
I am partial to a steak place called Marzella's in Collegeville. I may be able to get them to set up a care package. I know my daughter will be craving one about that time.

that is on the weekend of our fall break. fall break is a three day break we students get in october which runs right into the weekend, so it's really a five day break. it's intended to be a freshman mental health break.
anyways, most of the students will be gone and the gameday atmosphere will be disappointing comapred to usual. if you can make a different game, i would do it. for your first BGSU football experience, the ohio game might leave you a bit disappointed.
TO BILL BRASKY!!!!

Forbes: We'll be going to the Ohio game, too. Family weekend is nice, but you might want to make your room arrangements EARLY! Last year, Noah & I went on Family Weekend and ended up in Toledo.Forbes wrote:Thanks for the tip, 232.
We are not free to come for the Temple game. I guess we will come to Family Weekend then, Western Michigan.
So, the Ohio game wouldn't be a bad choice!
BTW, my wife used to direct several bell choirs. She now directs the teen & children's choirs at a church in Hatboro.

The students may be gone that weekend, but it appears to be an out-of-state trip to Bowling Green event. I know I will be making the trip to BG for the Ohio game. Heck, if most of the students will be out of town that weekend, it's all the more reason to attend the OU game.1987alum wrote:Forbes: We'll be going to the Ohio game, too. 1987,
If it is a long weekend, our daughter may want to come home. We may be testing the get to Detroit and take a plane home routine.
My daughter will have a car out there but we don't want her to try the eight hour trip just yet. If she can drive to Detriot Airport and get a flight it would be good.
It would be good to meet you and your family. Remember, once a ding-a-ling always a ding-a-ling. Ask her if she wants to play in a church bell choir. I always need good people. The drive would not be too bad. If I am desperate enough I may send a car to pick her up...LOL
Thanks for the tip about early reservations for family weekend. I am not wild about big crowds but we need to get out there sometime.

I am surprised, and highly disappointed that almost a full page into this thread, no one has made a "pronounced with an 'umpty'" comment.
