Class of 61

Forgot to "redo" this brief bio since the change to the new AZZ.
As you might be able to deduce from my screen name, I'm one of the more "senior citizens" on the site....(Right, Dave?)
My name is Dennis Blue and I graduated from BG in (surprise) 1961 with a B.S. Ed. Spent a total of 38 yrs. in the education business, mostly in the Garfield Hts. School system (32 yrs). I took an early retirement from GHHS in 93 when my wife became critically ill. After she passed away, I eventually went to work at Mayfield H.S., where I stayed for another 6 yrs.
My BG years were among the greatest 4 yrs. in my life. Being a total sports nut, I enjoyed some of the truly "golden years" in BG sports under coaches like: Harold Anderson, Bruce Bellard, Sam Cooper and the incomparable Doyt Perry. I saw us win our only "National Championship" in football ("college div.") in 59, had the opportunity to see people like Nate Thurmond, Jim Darrow, and Butch Komives on the court, along with outstanding swimmers, wrestlers, and of course, football players, many of whom graduated with me.
My season tickets to football have been "augmented" by trips to see the Falcons play at Penn St., Mich., MSU, Ky., Purdue (BOTH GAMES!),Annapolis, Missouri, the MCB, and, of course, all 3 OSU games. Even though I have 3 kids who went to OSU (2 with degrees), it's still my most hated institution (sorry Hammb).
I'm truly glad to be a part of AZZ and the "tailgate crew" and am glad to see that BG spirit exists in younger Falcons...as I used to feel like a lone wolf for many years, and took my share of abuse for it from my kids. Even though I can't compare to the "fanaticism" of some of the folks on this site, I'd like to think I still fit in well. GO FALCONS!!!
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
