BG off to a sluggish start in game two vs. Akron
BG off to a sluggish start in game two vs. Akron
BG loaded the bases in the first inning with no outs and couldn't score a run. A strikeout and a double play ended the side. I hope this isn’t a sign of things to come after letting game one get away from us. Come on Falcons.
GO BG!!!
I wasn’t able to swing up to BG for the Spring Football Game, so we jumped in the car and headed down to Akron for the second half of the baseball game. We got there just in time for BG to post seven runs in the side to take a 9-0 lead. It was a beautiful day to watch baseball and it was good to see a lot of BG fans at the game too.
While we were there, we walked around the Akron campus and I almost felt as if I was at another school. I took some classes at Akron part-time for a year before transferring to BG, and I’ll tall you what, Akron is like a completely different school now than it was a decade ago. I couldn’t believe how much it has changed! I was floored at all the landscaping, the mass amounts of trees planted throughout campus, all the flowers, the new buildings…..they completely overhauled the place. I never thought I’d say this about Akron, but I was impressed. It is not the same school it was 10 years ago.
Anyway, hopefully BG can seal the series by taking the rubber match on Sunday. We’ve gotta win this series. GO BG!!!

No kidding ‘Freak, it really has changed. I still don’t really like urban type schools, but Akron went from what I would consider a kind of dumpy campus to an actually pretty nice campus. Some of the new buildings they built were awesome like their Fieldhouse, Rec Center and Student Union, and they’ve added new dorms, classroom buildings, parking garages, etc. And I couldn’t believe all the trees there now! I saw on their master plan they were adding 30,000 trees and I thought no way, but they did, they are everywhere now and make the place look much, much better. They’re all little because they are new, but they really are everywhere. I know BG isn’t known for having a ton of trees, but I never thought the day would come that Akron’s campus had like twice as many trees as BG. They also closed off some roads that used to run through campus and added more green spaces. None the less, I hope to make it down for tomorrow’s game as well. Maybe I’ll see you there. 33,
You're right. I remember Akron 10 years ago and it was pretty dumpy but today? Night and day. They've overhauled that place BiG time. If they ever get that new football stadium built it could become a top notch place.
I'll look for ya tomorrow...just look for the dude with 2 boys decked out in orange...or white football jerseys. Hopefully we'll be there right at 1.
