Nolan Reimold season thread (AA, currently)

Reimold has started out well, leading his team in hitting:

I put AA currently. Look for promotions starting around Memorial Day. So depending on how well he performs, how well AAA OFs perform and/or promotions from AAA will help decide whether Nolan will get moved up. I guess the majors aren't out of the equation..

Baltimore's outfield is awfully crowded. Barring a rash of injuries, I would guess a September callup would be his ceiling, and a longshot at that.

AAA ball is a definite possibility though, and soon like you said. I'd love to see how he performs up there.

I had also heard that he might get some playing time at first base, in hopes of moving up sooner

If he does get the call up to AAA Norfolk, there's a great chance of seeing him play in Toledo.

It's possible. Some scouts think that he projects better as a 1B. But that would waste his good arm and decent range.

Besides Nick Markakis and Corey Patterson, the O's do not have much competition in the OF. Jay Payton is a good defender without much offense. I saw enough of Adam Stern with the Red Sox. He's another 4th OFer. Luis Montanez was a high 1st round pick by the Cubs years ago that is a converted SS. Jeff Fiorentino is on the 40 man roster, but is is struggling in AA.

Hopefully, Nolan stays healthy the whole year and continues his climb.

Nolan was placed on the DL with an oblique strain, something that seems to take longer to come back from than one would think. Wonder how bad the strain is?

Cliff Lee suffered an oblique strain in spring training for the Indians, and just last night made his season debut. Given the way you have to employ your abdominal muscles both throwing and fielding, I imagine that you have to wait a while to ensure that you are fully healed when this happens.
