May 17, 2007
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University volleyball excelled both athletically and academically this school year. BGSU put together a 26-6 season that included a trip to the MAC Championship match in the fall, and finished the 2006-07 school year with a team GPA of 3.54.
Six players posted a 3.8+ GPA for the spring semester, including:
Corrie Mills (5/Sr., Mathematics) - 4.0 GPA
Maggie Karges (Sr./Sr., Food and Nutrition) - 4.0 GPA
Stephanie Swiger (Sr./Sr., Political Science) - 3.8 GPA
Chelsey Meek (Jr./Jr., Early Childhood Education) - 4.0 GPA
Kaitlin Jackson (Jr./So., Human Movement and Science) - 4.0 GPA
Shari Luther (So./Fr., Business Management) - 4.0 GPA
All six of the student-athletes above carry a cumulative GPA above 3.75. Jackson and Luther lead the way with all A's in their collegiate careers, owning perfect 4.0 cumulative GPAs.
"Wow is all I can say about this team," said Head Coach Denise Van De Walle. "It's absolutely amazing to me that five of our players can get a 4.0. That's not an easy thing for any studentto do let alone someone who is as busy as we are in athletics. Mark (Hardaway) and I continually stress the importance of doing the best you can and these players take that to heart. I am really proud of our efforts. These grades have capped off a very special year."
CONGRATS TO ALL!!!! C'mon Stephanie...you're slacking!!!
This coming from a guy that had trouble hitting a 3.0 GPA consistently.
