Will anybody be in Oxford this weekend for baseball?
Miami has a nice field and it will looke even better if the scoreboard shows a BG win.
Say "hey" if you see me.
GO BG!

Re: Baseball in Oxford
We're down here in Oxford for the weekend and we took in tonight's game. I love Miami's facility, and there were about 1,000 fans on hand on a beautiful night. BG really let one get away tonight though. Way too many walked batters for BG's pitchers. BG led 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. Things looked good. That was, until we gave up 5 runs in the bottom of the fifth. Miami later tied at 6-6, then an inning later hit a solo home run to make it 7-6, Miami. BG tied it in the top of the ninth at 7-7 and actually regained the lead at 8-7 in the top of the 10th. But Miami tied it in the 10th and scored the game-winning run on a walk with the bases loaded in the 11th. Walks just killed BG tonight!!!RobbyFalcon wrote:Will anybody be in Oxford this weekend for baseball?

I think BG walked 10 batters to only two for Miami. And several of those walked batters scored a run. It seemed like every inning Miami had a walk and if some of the Maimi batters didn't swing at some of the pitches they chased, BG would have walked even more. Miami could have sent guys up to the plate with the bat on their shoulder and they'd have gotten on base. We also had a very costly error that would have ended the fifth inning that prolonged the Maimi scoring run and allowed another run to score.
BG really let one get away tonight and we are really watching our promising start slip away. BG started out 6-2 in the MAC, but since that time, has lost five consecutive MAC games and is now 6-7. We have got to get things turned around and now or we won't even make the newly expanded MAC Tournament field.
By the way, I was in Chillicothe on Thursday and went to the VA Memorial Stadium where the MAC Tournament will be played this year. I got a tour of the facility and took lots of pictures. I'll share my take on the venue in another post when I get back after the weekend.
GO BG!!!
Much better result today (Saturday). The first inning start off looking like it was going to be a long evening for the Falcons as Miami jumped ahead 3-0 with the aid of some seeing-eye hits, coupled with a BG error and a controversial Miami hit (arguably an error) that had the BG faithful on hand questioning the call. But the Falcons battled back and cut the lead to 3-2, then later tied it at 3-3 before taking a 5-3 lead. Maimi came right back and tied it at 5-5. After walking 10 batters the night before, BG hadn't walked a batter all game long but walked three in the h inning and two of those walks came around to score to knot it up at 5 apiece. However, BG plated the game-winning run an inning later and held on for the win. It was another nice night for baseball. About 1,000 on hand again and a nice turnout by BG fans. The Falcon faithful was making some noise when BG started the comeback and it was nice to hear. Miami's stadium is a model of what BG should build and needs to build. Since our AD is a Miami alum, I'm sure he's working on it!
Most of all, it was nice to break the five-game losing streak in MAC play and get our first MAC East win of the year. Now we've gotta get the rubber match tomorrow. GO BG!!!
GO BG!!!
He may be a Miami alum, but I don't think he give two hoots about baseball. We are even having trouble getting simple things like the batters eye fixed, that was blown down before the season started. He just keeps fixing problems the cheapest way possible on the baseball facility and consequently it looks like it.
I heard he attempted to install a "virtual fence" in the outfield but abandoned the project due to costs and ineffectiveness.factman wrote:He may be a Miami alum, but I don't think he give two hoots about baseball. We got back late last night after the series. Game three was there for the taking early, but got away quickly. This was a series BG could have easily won two of three, but also could have been swept in - as games one and two could have gone either way. Game three was pretty much all Miami. BG is in a 1-6 slump in the MAC right now, including 1-5 vs. the MAC East. These next three MAC series are very important if we want to make the tournament. BG is off all week before going to Ohio who has been playing pretty well this season and just gave Kent State all it could handle in a very competitive series at Kent this past weekend.
GO BG!!!
