Seems to me it results from PPPP!!! I will wait for today for the final asessment! The crowd should be much bigger and there is just no place to accomodate them.
+1 Didn't matter to me much yesterday as most folks there were coaches or athletes. The set up today was awful. Only way to see the HJ was from about thirty yards BEHIND the pit. The height markers were turned toward the athletes, leaving spectators to guess at the height of the bar. Triple jump was in the middle of the field- Had they reversed the runway and put the pit by the stands it would have been easier to see but there may have been space reasons that prohibited that. If so they wren't obvious.
Throwing area for the discus was pretty sketchy in terms of the turf but otherwise was the most spectator friendly place and the turf doesn't really matter anyway.
I got kicked out of the area that provided the best view of the HJ with the guy using the lame excuse that I couldn't be there because I had ignored the huge sign that said "coaches only" and several ropes that blocked the way there.
The stands weren't even at the finish line, but well down the back straightaway, so any excitement over close finishes would be muted due to the difficult sight lines. But the surface looked pretty nice and in spite of horrendous jumping conditions (major wind) several women popped some nice jumps so it must be fairly springy. Unfortunately I had to leave before the running finals.
