Leady signs with Bowling Green

Post by factman »

OF/P Kevin Leady from Eastwood is signing with BG baseball today, along with INF/P Marty Baird (VanBuren), Sam Campitella (Massilon Jackson), Chris Gacom (Walsh Jesuit), and SS Ryan Shea (Dearborn Devine Child. .
Baird was ranked as one of the top ten players in Ohio with Leady in the second ten, and Shea is a preseason 2nd Team Louisville Slugger High School All American.
This has the making of a TREMENDOUS recruiting class for the baseball Falcons, with possibly a couple more to sign yet this fall.

That's great news. I thought we'd lost Leady for good because of his football decision but now we're getting him for baseball.

Obviously BG can't be that bad facility and campus wise if he's willing to come here after dumping football. BG is the place to be.

It is my understanding that the reason he "dumped" football, as you put it, had nothing to do with anything other than "baseball is his first love" and it is very tough to do both, especially as a freshman QB. It is almost impossible.

I know...I read the articles. Wasn't trying to put down the football team or offend anyone by the statement. I'm just glad that he chose to come to BG eventhough he's not playing football.

BG also will be getting a quality walk-on this year by the name of Matt Keglewitsch, a toledo St. John's grad of 2002. He played at Dayton, and now has transfered back and will be walking on next year. BG recruited him out of HS, as did defiance and toledo, but he chose UD. He's my best friend and one helluva ball player.

Leady never would have made it in football -- quaterback, i.e. Bowling Green has too many excellent QBs waiting in the wings, and a new one coming in from Ill. He would have done a lot of watching from the sidelines unless he could have made it as a defensive back or something of that nature. ---- He's probably much better off in baseball. The challenges there will be far less severe. And if he "loves" it, that's where he belongs anyway.
