MAC season starts for Volleyball!

BG is coming off a great showing at the Pittsburgh Invitational beating St Francis (PA), Eastern Illinois and Robert Morris while losing to Pitt, 3-2. BG is 5-9 as they open the MAC on the road at Akron and Buffalo this weekend. I would really like to get to the Akron matchup but HS football has Green at Cloverleaf tomorrow night. Decisions, decisions....but the Freaklings are looking forward to HS football.

Maybe its just me...but i'm not happy with where BG is at in it's current Vball flux.
Seems as though they have taken a few steps back....5-9 thus far with some suspect losses.

We've never been able to get over the hump....one good season...then a few bad seasons....it's just not consistent.

You must not know the make up of the team then, seven freshmen and four sophomores on a 16 player roster, meaning there are only five upperclassmen on the roster, easily the youngest team coach has ever had while here, and the first time ever having seven freshmen on the roster, growing pains are to be expected, just like with the football team, especially with so many of the freshmen playing. Now if this was a veteran team, like say the 06, 07, and 08 teams I would right there with you about not being happy about this start, but that isn't the case, this team is talented, but they are just so young, plus its not like coach put a very easy OOC schedule together. Luckily the team is playing well going into MAC play and is hopefully the opposite of last season, where the team started 6-1, only to finish OOC play 1-5 and struggle in MAC play.

Also I don't see where you get off saying "one good season...then a few bad seasons" I looked back at past schedules, and before last season the last time the team finished under .500 was 2003. From 04-08 the win totals were 17, 18, 26, 21, 25, not really sure how that equals one good season then a few bad. This season may end up being a down one because of all the youth, but we should be a force the next three seasons with all the talent we have, much like the 06-08 seasons.

Freakling2 and I went over to the JAR and saw the Falcons get swept, 3-0. BG fought back in the first two games only to lose 27-25, 25-23. They kinda mailed it in in the 3rd game, 25-16. BG seemed to be out of place quite a bit the whole night and couldn't take advantage of opportunities. BG is now 5-10, 0-1 MAC, and travels to Buffalo for a match at 5 tomorrow.

Another thing...don't like seeing the Falcons in BLACK. Sheese.

BG bounces back with a 3-2 win at Buffalo Sat night. Next 4 MAC matches are home starting with Miami and WMU this weekend.
