BG baseball loses more ground, just one more series left

Post by BGSU33 »

BG continued its slide in the MAC this weekend, having now dropped 9 of their last 12 in the MAC. Ohio closed the gap on BG winning its series vs Ohio and the Falcons were probably saved another loss with a rainout againt the Golden Flashes in the third game. BG couldn't ask for a better opponent to face in the final weekend still tying to make the MAC Tournament with Buffalo being just 2-21. Gotta win to make sure you get in Falcons. Would be great to sweep the Bulls to at least get back to .500. Series starts this Thursday. GO BG!!!

Well, everyone in the MAC but BG and UB have played two of their three games in their MAC series already this weekend, but the Falcons and Bulls haven't even taken the field yet. BG has also lost getting a chance to play one of the three games in the UB series as the game on Thursday was pushed to a DH Friday, and that DH wasn't able to be played either. So now, BG is "hopefully" able to play Saturday which is now scheduled to be a DH and the third game of the series was cancelled. Also, in our fight to stay in front of Ohio, the Bobcats lost game one of their DH with Miami but came back and won 3-2 (all three runs were unearned) in the second game as Miami had four errors. So as of right now, we still haven't clinched a berth in the tournament yet. I believe we now need either an Ohio loss or one win to get in. I'm almost beginning to wonder if that field up in Buffalo is even going to be okay to play on tomorrow at this rate. We'd actually get in to the tournament if we didn't even play even if Ohio won. Here's where things stand with only Saturday remaining:

MAC EAST
Kent State, 21-4
Miami, 18-8
BOWLING GREEN, 10-13
Ohio, 10-16
Akron, 6-20
Buffalo, 2-21

MAC WEST
Central Michigan, 16-9
Eastern Michigan, 16-10
Northern Illinois, 15-11
Toledo, 15-11
Western Michigan, 12-13
Ball State, 10-15

Saturday, May 21st
BOWLING GREEN at Buffalo - (DH)
Miami at Ohio
Akron at Kent State
Toledo at Ball State
Northern Illinois at Western Michigan
Central Michigan at Eastern Michigan
GO BG!!!
