We were able to catch the first three games of the SIU-E match and, while it's been a while since I've seen the volleyball team in action, this squad looked very, very good.

Lindsey Butterfield really impressed me on the outside. She puts the ball down in a hurry. And sophomore libero Ashley Dunn looked incredible in a position where it's easy to get lost. If the Falcons continue to get steady play at setter, they could be very, very good.

The odd twist is that this is a really young team - eight of the 14 players are freshmen or sophomores. So Van De Walle is really leaving the shelves fully stocked for her successor.

While young, they are experienced because most got a lot of playing time last year, Denise mentioned many times during the preseason how we would have five freshmen out on the floor at times last season. While last year was a rough season, the experience those young players got is obviously helping with the fantatsic start the team is off to
