BG baseball closes out home schedule with Ohio this weekend

BG is right in the thick of the MAC race trying to qualify for one of the 8 spots to make the MAC Tournament field. There are just two more MAC series remaining for all 12 teams and BG currently stands at 11-10 in the conference. If the tournament started today, the Falcons would be the #6 seed. BG hosts Ohio in a very important series for the Falcons as it's not only the last home series of the year, it's also a crucial one to stay on pace to make the tournament field. OU is coming off back-to-back MAC series wins and has been playing its best baseball of the season the last several weeks after a horrible start. BG is doing a $1 hot dog promotion on Saturday and as Factman made us aware of in another post, a special announcement is supposed to be made. Also, Sunday is Senior Day. I'm really looking forward to the information about the announcement and hope to see BG close out the home slate in winning fashion.

BG takes game one of the series, 11-4.

Disaster of a first inning filled with several walks and an error cost BG as OU wins game two, 7-6. BG was down 4-0 at the blink of an eye and it was too much to overcome. Our starting pitcher never made it out of the first inning and walked the first two batters on 4-0 counts while throwing 10 consecutive balls to open the game. BG tied it at 6-6 and had runners at second and third with one out but couldn't score. Tough loss today.

BG wins the series 7-6 and FINALLY wins a one-run game in the MAC (now 1-5 in one-run MAC games and 2-8 overall). Falcons were up 4-1 late before OU tied it on a three-run bomb then eventually went ahead 5-4. BG later took the lead 6-5 and OU was down to its last out in the top of the ninth with no one on and rallied to tie it before BG countered with the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth. Nice way to close out the home season on senior day.
