The road to a repeat just got a lot steeper with the Falcons losing a doubleheader to The Trust Fund Kids University on Friday.

It's hard to put into words how much I dislike that snotty school from southwestern Ohio...I guess I've always had a problem with entitled brats.

BG salvages the last game of the series with a win Sunday. That was probably a much bigger victory than we'd normally believe, given how early in the season it is. But since the series was at home for BG, it was imperative they get at least one win from a team that it would appear will be battling it out for a MAC title (hopefully, along with BG).

Went to "Clint" Eastwood Field in Niles Wed night for the BG/YSU game. Got there just in time for the first 2 runs of the day on a HR in the first. Kinda set the tone as we rolled the Penguins, 17-5, in 7 innings. 8 BG batters got hit by a pitch in the game setting a new school record. YSU has had a frustrating season and I think got a bit outta control. Whatever, we got the win and moved to 22-9.

3 games this weekend in Kzoo against the Broncos...who knocked us outta the MAC tourney last May.

That 7-4 loss was tough...we had a 3-2 lead in the 5th or 6th (can't remember which inning it was) and MiAudi already had two outs in the top half. We made and error and put a guy on first. By the time we got the 3rd out, we were down 7-3. Like W....T....F.

But like you said, getting the 3rd game and not getting swept was BiG. No question that team is very solid and a fave for the title.

Ugh.

Lost 2 of 3 to Western so BG is now in 4th place in the standings, although if you factor in games played, they're 2 games out of first. Given how inconsistent they've been to this point, the goal is probably to make sure you finish as high as possible in the standings and hope you can get hot in the tournament. They'll need help to repeat as regular season champions. Two of the teams ahead of them (Kent, Miami) already won the season series...and the third, Ball State, they play this weekend at home. They need to keep winning and hope someone else can knock off the teams ahead of them.

With yesterday's loss to Ball State in a slugfest, BG is now 4.5 to 5 games behind the Cardinals and in 4th place. BSU also had 3 games in-hand, which means they've played 3 less at this point. There are only 10 games left for BGSU, so making up that difference is unlikely. The good news: BG is very solidly in 4th place, which is important for seeding. If they can somehow climb to 2nd, that would be even better.

Obviously, BG needs to win today.

BG has (mostly) solidified its 4th place standing, although getting any higher in the standings will be a tough task. But they've played pretty well, considering they've been without two of their best players for most of this month. Some of the youngsters have been stepping up, and keeping them at least within striking distance in the standings. They don't release info about injuries, so I'm hoping both guys can be back by the time the MAC tournament rolls around. Maybe BG can do what Western did a year ago and take the tournament to get that NCAA bid.

Newman is out for the year for sure with a knee injury (surgery is expected), Seidel may return by the tournament but that is not 100%. I do not know the status of Birch.
The good news is this team has depth due to outstanding recruiting and a no excuses attitude. Not necessarily enough to win the tournament but far more than we had 4 years ago.

That really sucks to hear about Newman. Hope to see Seidel and Birch back soon.

BG beat Findlay (23-22) today 6-3 at the Stell. Falcons now 29-14 and look who's up next....Bancroft High. Friday night's game is at 5/3rd Field downtown and then Sat and Sun at Scott Park. All 3 games are scheduled for BCSN with a simulcast on ESPN+. Friday at 7, Saturday at 3 and Sunday at 1.

We went 4-0 against the scuds last year.

BG got a walk off win today in game 2 of the regular season final series, 5-4. NIU took game 1, 14-8. Rubber match tomorrow at 1 and SR day.
BG now 32-20, 18-11 and broke a 4 game losing streak. Seidel and Birchmeier back today!

Looks like we will be the #4 seed for the tourney next week and face those jackasses from up the road...midnight pew and mold.
