RUGBY! BG's club team is ALWAYS ranked in the top 10 in the nation. Lacrosse would be another good one as that sport is picking up steam. Green High School has a Lacrosse team and I know BG had a great Lacrosse tradition when it was a sport here.
GO BG!
What sports would you like to see added?

Bowling Green needs to bring men's track and field back to the campus. They have the facilities already in place, and it would be a marvelous recruiting tool for the football program since 84 per cent of the recruits ran track in high school ---- and many would like to continue at the college level.

Need is a bit strong. I haven't seen any negative damage to the University since it cut the track team. We will see in a couple of years if not having a track team hurts football recruiting, but I highly doubt it. Sure lots of our football recruits ran in high school. Most really good athletes participate in multiple sports. Track in the spring is good conditioning for football in fall. I think BG needs another team that can draw decent crowds, and maybe help raise some revenue to offset bills. I don't see track and field doing that.Dr. Bucko wrote:Bowling Green needs to bring men's track and field back to the campus. I BELIEVE, PGY, THAT THE QUESTION WAS: WHAT SPORT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE ADDED. I OFFERED MY OPINION BASED ON MANY, MANY, MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A COACH (FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, TRACK AND FIELD, ETC). WHY YOU FELT THE NEED TO MOVE IN AND TAKE A POT SHOT AT MY SUGGESTION BOTHERS ME. SEVERAL PEOPLE ON HERE TALKED ABOUT TRACK FOR MEN. WHAT'S YOUR PROBLEM? ----- I SEE THAT YOU'RE FROM PERRYSBURG. SO AM I. DID YOU RUN FOR VERN???

First you used "need", which I thought was a bit strong. Second any opinion is open for a response, And you used some statistic to back up your opinion, which I don't think supports your arguement. Third. I believe you took a huge "pot Shot" at three posters in the womens forums, by calling there comments stupid. ( I at least refrained from name calling, and using capitilized font (yelling))
About Vern, I didn't run in high school. I personally feel that running is a form of punishment (one that I force myself to do three days a week). But I did have Vern for honor Geometry, and worked for him at Perrysburg pool one summer. BTW do you teach at Perrysburg.

Dr. Bucko, sorry to disagree here but I don't see how track would help football recruiting. There isn't a whole lot of athletes that play multiple sports here. The few I know who have, complained because they had to be here year round for training. Some only get to go home twice a year to see their family while some never even saw home that year they did both. I'd like to see men's track back along with a lot of sports, but IMO, it wouldn't help with recruiting for football.

NO PGY, I DO NOT TEACH AT PBURG, BUT I'M VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE SCHOOL MY SON QUARTERBACKED THERE BACK IN THE MIDDLE 80S WHEN THEY WENT UNDEFEATED FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. I'M GLAD TO HEAR THAT YOU'RE RUNNING THREE DAYS/WEEK. FOUR DAYS/WEEK WOULD BE A LOT BETTER. ----- AND I HAVE DONE MY HOMEWORK, I.E., I HAVE TALKED TO A NUMBER COACHES AT BG (UNIVERSITY LEVEL) ALL OF WHOM FELT THAT LOSING THE MEN'S TRACK PROGRAM DID INTER INTO THE RECRUITING EFFORTS. SO I WASN'T MAKING SOMETHING UP WHEN I SAID THAT. I CAN USUALLY BACK UP ANYTHING I SAY WITH STATS. WONDER ON OVER TO AN INDOOR MEET NEXT WINTER SOMETIME AND YOU'LL SEE ANY NUMBER OF THOSE WIDE RECEIVERS AND DEFENSIVE BACKS DOING THEIR THING IN THE SPRINTS.

I am much more impressed with information such as opinions from coaches then about stastics how many football players ran in high school. In my mind, statistics don't mean anything with out biological significance (for instance in my work, just because one cell has statistically more mRNA doesn't mean it has more protein that actually provides the function).Dr. Bucko wrote:NO PGY, I DO NOT TEACH AT PBURG, BUT I'M VERY FAMILIAR WITH THE SCHOOL MY SON QUARTERBACKED THERE BACK IN THE MIDDLE 80S WHEN THEY WENT UNDEFEATED FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS.
