Jay Crawford, like me, could always do a better job in keeping BG forward. In my job that is critical. Not as much in his.

But I wonder if Jay and family are considering assisting BGSU in a quiet way? I think it might be best for BG fans and folks to consider what alums and families do- or will do- for BG. I wouldn't want to make any assumption, for example, about any poster or BG backer/alum on this site. Many might indeed have all ready supported the university in a variety of ways both large and small. Or might be considering doing so. That is personal.

I realize Jay is a public figure, but I personally would never pass judgement on an alum's level of commitment to BG. Even based on a shirt choice with a fellow like this gentlemen.

I might suggest something like shirt choice :), but I would never assume a person is not a good supporter or future supporter in a variety of ways.

Why would I? Last poster is right; Jay really helped us in a visible way last time on campus. So I myself start right there.

Go Falcons!

This thread started as a big upgrade for baseball...to where's the turf...to baseball funding (that's on me)...to Jay Crawford and his allegiance or lack there of to BGSU. Kind of funny.

To get back on track it would be nice to see them get baseball where it should be....so tired of all the excuses...people do care about baseball it's just time to figure it out.

He's also an incredibly friendly guy who went out of his way to chat with me for a couple minutes with I was at the ESPN campus a couple years back. Would I prefer he didn't love OSU so much? Yeah, but it's dumb to exile him.
Jay was one of the graduation speakers this spring and I had a chance to talk with him both prior and after the ceremony. He genuinely felt good about being back in BG. He hadn't been back in a long time and coming back seemed to reconnect him with BG in very positive ways. I even asked him if he was going to come back soon and he said he definitely planned to. Someone high up in the university talked with him about coming back for homecoming this year and he indicated that he would really enjoy doing that. Now I know that doesn't mean he WILL be back, but there was something genuine in how he felt about being back in BG. I think reconnecting in this way will go a long way in his support of BG.

It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Are there ever actually going to be up grades?

Or was this all talk that the huge donation for BG Baseball by Gary Haas has to go through so much red tape and IX issues we will never see any upgrades?

Been 2 two years? What's the hold up?

Why immediately jump to Title IX being an issue??

Maybe more funding is being solicited to expand the project. Maybe other projects need to be completed that directly affect this.

There are far to many possibilities to jump directly to red tape and Title IX being the issue.

What???? Why would you expect progress to be made 2 years after announcing a project? Plus the baseball program hasn't earned any facility upgrades. [-X

Don't know if this has to do with anything but spoke with moose at the football season ticket holder event about baseball. He said that they have 9.5 scholarships and moose asked the coach what he would like to see upgrades or scholarships. The coach took scholarships. As I mentioned, don't know if that has anything to do about anything but....

The NCAA limit is 11.7...2.2 is a lot of pie when you can cut it up a number of ways. Do we really need to fully fund football scholarships?

Equivalent for 4-6 scholarship players, that we now have to use "walk-ons" for. Since baseball is limited to 32 on the roster by the department, that would be about a15-20% cut from most of the teams we play.
Maybe we SHOULD cut football by 15-17 scholarships to fully scholarship the rest of our sports! They are getting better results with walk-ons, than football with 100%.

I'm sure if BG really wanted to fix it they could...that would take actual leadership from administration. Definitely haven't had that the last two athletic directors. Love to see the baseball compete for some more MAC titles...hell, outside of last year they've been competing despite their limitations.
