Hank Reest - BG Hall of Fame Swimmer in plane crash

Post by SW-MI Falcon »

Terrible news about a plane crash near Holland, MI. A swim team buddy of Hank - John Lindahl says this...
"I'm encouraging my swim buddies to take a few laps for Hank. Some positive thoughts will help him through this"

Sad news

Post by SW-MI Falcon »

I received this note below from John Lindahl. I met Hank at John's house a couple of years ago. Nice guy, full of life, rode his Harley and loved to swim and fly.

John wrote me yesterday:

"Sorry to report but one of BG's finest passed away yesterday around 4 pm. Hank Reest, the All-American Hall of Famer will be missed but not forgotten. I will pass on details when known or go to www.carepages.com and sign in for Hank Reest info"

More sad news for the BG family. Thanks for posting this SW.

Oh, and thanks for posting the BGSUsports.com link. That's a big reason I do that site, to bring the past to the present, in happy times and sad.

Your article is a great tribute to a good man and a BGSU legend. From one T.G. to another - thanks.

You're welcome, though in fairness, I think I took most of that one right from his HOF release a few years ago. Though I did add some information regarding the crash and his post-BG life at the end of the article. If your friend that knew him wants to add anything, let me know!

Was re-writing Hank's bio after my site got hacked, and came across the video tribute they played at his visitation. It's about 7 minutes and BG is mentioned only briefly, but it's a pretty nice piece for those who may be interested:
