MAC Baseball Race Heating Up, Current Standings

With only six of the 12 team in the conference advancing to play in the MAC Tournament, here's where things stand heading into the Easter weekend series:

MAC East
Kent State, 6-3
Bowling Green, 5-4
Miami, 4-5
Ohio, 4-5
Akron, 2-7
Buffalo, 2-7

MAC West
Ball State, 6-3
Central Michigan, 6-3
Toledo, 5-4
Eastern Michigan, 5-4
Northern Illinois, 5-4
Western Michigan, 4-5

Yes it is, which is why, just like in football, basketball, etc., every single game is important. In MAC baseball, only half of the teams make the conference tournament. You have to finish in the top six of the 12-team field to make the MAC Tournament, and if you're the number one seed, you then get to host the MAC Tournament. So there's a lot riding on every single one of these regular season games.

I hope the team goes on to win the MAC.... It's really a good group of fellows. And... the luckiest bunch of freshmen in Division 1.

It would be awesome to see us back in an NCAA Regional again. I've was at the Corvallis Regional last year and the Charlottesville Regional the year before that and they were a lot of fun. Regionals, Super Regionals and the College World Series are awesome events and what I like most about baseball at any level.
