BG Rugby = Domination......

Post by Falconboy »

I realize that BG rugby has no news on bgsufalcons.com or much anywhere else for that matter so I'd thought I'd give them some love here. Why? Cuz they freakin' deserve it. They've crushed Alabama , Kentucky and a bunch of other real good schools in Rugby this year and it seems have a good history of doing so.. I never realized we had a such a good Rugby team before. Apparently the last game I read about was a frickkin' whip lashing of Kentucky by some ungodly score.

I know rugby is a club sport but still apparently , our BG rugby team are the only major bright spot in BG men's athletics to date.

Congrats to the Rugby team. They've been a top 5 program for years. By the way, have you figured out how to get the internet to work from your toilet yet?

There's a good reason that the rugby team isn't on BGSUFalcons.com. They are a Club sport and do not fall under the "Varsity" level.

BG Rugby has been dominant for years. IIRC, they took on a bunch of English teams back in the early/mid 80s and crushed most of them.

Ah yes, those halcyon days of the early 80's where one could saunter on over to the rugby field to continue Friday nights' kegger with a trio of Rugby games to watch mixed in.

War Stu and Chuck Tuna...and three cheers to the refs!

Only person I can think of that can afford one of those would be Tech83 (well, maybe Grant if empties his AZZ coffers)

There were some sentinel articles a few years back talking about how the team went to South Africa and although they didn't win any of their matches, their opponents commented on two things... one... the Americans hit way harder then any other team they had ever played (former football players) and secondly the team no matter how far down played just as hard at the beginning of the match as they did at the end.

Rugby is pretty much the national sport in South Africa. The national team is called the Springboks.

That trip was a big deal. No idea who our Falcons played, but they live and breathe the sport there.

What!! ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY EIGHT POINTS (against Alabama)?!! Its hard to score that much when the opposition stays in the club house. Flippin' 'eck, they must have been shattered after that game.

BG Rugby has always been tough as long as I can remember. I have a friend that played rugby in the early to mid 90's, Angelo Fortunato. He used to hang out with Brian Holzinger at BG.
