:D Hello Falcon Fans!!! :D

Incase you've never seen me on here before my name is Stephanie Swiger and will be a Senior (#4) on the Women's Volleyball Team this season. I have to say my team and I love Ay-Ziggy and all it's cyber fans because you guys were a big reason why we were as successful as we were last year. Coming off a 26-6 season with a #33 national ranking will be a hard act to follow, but my fellow seniors and I are ready to bring a MAC Championship back to Anderson Arena and BGSU!! :P Our 2007 schedule was just released and I saw our great fans already posted it on this site. We have 13 matches at home this year and I am asking, PLEASE bring your friends, your families and any fellow falcon fans and jam Anderson Arena this season you won't be disappointed. We graduated only one person from last year, our setter Chrissy Gothke. That is a definately a loss for our team, but we are all ready to step up and we have a freshman setter coming in from Michigan named Sam Fish who is excited to step in and make a difference. Chrissy will be on staff this year as an assistent coach so she will still be with us for the ride. Still at the helm is our Head Coach Denise Van De Walle who is entering her 25th season as head coach.

Please feel free to post any questions you have about the upcoming season and I will do my best to answer them. :)

:-D I also want to thank all the Ay-Ziggy fans I met during the barnstorming tour around the state it was great to see some volleyball fans all across Ohio. :-D

Yep, another great falcon sport doing great things. I'll be checking you guys out several times hopefully this year. I think its bout time we end Ohio's dominance of the Mac these last 4 or 5 years. :D Its been great seeing you and your teammates at the women's basketball games throughout the season. Its great when different sports can support each other.

GO FALCON VOLLEYBALL 2007!!!!!!!!!! :supz: :supz: :supz:

:D :tonqe: Thanks guys we're all so excited for the season to start and it's great to hear other people are too. My teammates and I agree and we think it's time to knock OU off their pedestal and we know we have the tools to do it!!!

:-D We LOVE the basketball girls!! At BG all of the athlete know each other because it is such a tight athlete community, but we feel especially close with the BB girls. Our locker room is next door to theirs, the Basketball house is next to one of our Volleyball houses off campus, we share Anderson Arena and our practice times always follow each other, but they are just GREAT girls and GREAT friends. We were so excited to see how well they did this year and we felt like we went with them on the ride to the Sweet Sixteen. They were at every one of our home matches in the fall cheering and heckling the other team so they felt like they were with going with us during our 17 match winning streak. I'm so excited to see where the next year will take each of these programs, but I know that no matter what happens we're all going to go through it together!! :-D

I'm with freak, I'm also looking forward to the 07 season. Last season was great to watch and I think 07 could be even better, especially if we knock off OU. Good luck to you and the rest of the girls this season

Stephanie:

Looking forward to another great season from Falcon volleyball!

We're hoping for a road trip to the Akron football game which would mean we could make the Kent State match. I've been hoping for a volleyball match to coincide with our annual football roadie and this looks like it could be the year!

:-D :-D Thanks everyone for the messages so far! It's great to know that there are true Falcon fans that will go to games no matter where they are!! The girls and I are THRILLED this is the first year Volleyball season tickets are on sale and I would encourage anyone who is interested to purchase a package. They are at a great price and you gain entrance to all home matches. :-D :-D

This Sunday all of the girls and I will be moving back to school to run the annual BGSU Summer Volleyball camp for youth in the area, we train during the 4 days early before camp begins and in the evenings we get together and play. All of our incoming freshman will be there and it will be our first look at the complete 2007 squad. The players that are already committed for 2008 might also be at camp as well. It is a weird feeling to meet your replacement, but the program looks like it is continuing to recruit GREAT talent and the success of BG volleyball will continue on long after I am gone. So after next week we will have an idea of how the team looks with all of the pieces in place. :D Ay Ziggy....ZOOMBA!!

Preseason

:D :D Hello Falcon Volleyball Fans...This is your preseason update!!! We have just completed day 4 and I have to say WE ARE WORKING HARD. I'm sorry I haven't been on Ay-Ziggy to keep you updated with what’s happening, but in anticipation of the season, moving into my new apartment and the start of school next week things have been busy. The team is looking great and we are excited for our upcoming match with Illinois at the Dayton tournament. The first few days of practice we are getting some of the rust out and working on timing with our setters (Sam Fish, Meghan Mohr). With a roster of 14 this year there are more bodies in the gym than ever before and there is talent galore. We hitting hard and defense looks solid as well. Preseason is always an extremely difficult challenge physically and mentally so we are being pushed to handle the pressure of the upcoming season. Anderson Arena has been HOT as you could imagine. The new falcon logo has gone down onto center court and it looks GREAT. They have also updated the logo that was placed on the north wall last year with the new falcon head and the gym really looks first class. The humidity has been the killer for us and when you play a sport that requires you to fall down, the floor tends to get a little slippery. One salvation in this is the air conditioning in the Sebo Center. The strength and conditioning staff have been using all of their new resources to make us stronger and faster. It was worth the wait to have this new facility even though I will only get to use it until the end out our season this fall. The girls are so excited to begin another exciting season. If you are around the BG area feel free to drop in and watch a bit of our practices this next week ( 09/13-09/18 ) we will be in Anderson from 9-12 and 2-5. Our practices are open to the public and we love having visitors. I would also encourage everyone to attend our home opener against Oakland on August 28th the girls and I love playing volleyball for BG, but there is no better place to play than at home in front of a great crowd of our loyal fans. I PROMISE IF YOU COME TO A VOLLEYBALL MATCH THIS YEAR YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED...my fellow seniors and I can not wait for this year to begin and we want you all along for the ride too...watch out OU the Falcons are coming for you!!!!! :D :D :D :D
