Former BGSU star reaches base in 43 consecutive games

Former Bowling Green native and BGSU star Andy Tracy has reached base in 43 consecutive games this season, the longest streak in the Pacific Coast League this year.

Tracy, who plays for the New Orleans Zephyrs, the New York Mets’ top farm team, has reached base at least once in every game he played since May 22.

On the season Tracy has hit .312 with 19 home runs and 64 RBIs as well as 67 runs scored, third-best in the league.

Congrats to Andy! It will be interesting to see how much longer he sticks it out in the minors. He has had a good minor league career but hasn't been able to make it in the big leagues and he is getting to an age where a lot of major league clubs will not be quick to bring him up. It would be nice to see him get one last shot with a major league team.

Wow. I didn't even realize he had jumped up to AAA ball already. With Delgado and Franco starting to get up in years, you could see Tracy starting in the next couple of years.

Starting to get up in years? Franco was starting to get up in years when he played for the Tribe. Someone correct me, but didn't he break in to the big leagues with the Cincinnati Red Legs?

I do believe Franco played on the very first professional baseball team in what, 1869? He was one of the veterans on that team, too!

The bad thing for Andy is that he is getting up in years, too (for a pro baseball player). I don't think the Mets will be looking to replace Franco and Delgado with a mid-30s career minor leaguer.

Really? Jumped up? Would that be a jump up before or after his time in the majors? He's been AAA for awhile.

And Franco's been around awhile, but Andy is the only one of the two with the distinction of playing for a team that doesn't exist anymore.

I just realized I mixed up Tracy and Reimold.

My bad, I'll shut up now.

Franco never played for the Reds. He first came up with Philly. Then there was the Von Hayes trade.
