BG baseball crushed by WMU, 15-5 in Florida

BG falls to 1-3 on the season with the loss. Not a very good start to the season.

Unfortunately, they also lost to Northeastern today 11-8.

Not sure the spring trip is any indication of the season, as usually line-ups are not set & the kids are still working out the kinks from being inside all winter. Lots of games left this week. Hopefully, they'll find their winning way soon.

Whether the lineup is set or not, man they are giving up a lot of runs. Is the pitching staff that weak, or is it early season jitters?

Man, BG was behind 11-1 heading into the bottom of the ninth. OUCH! BG falls to 1-4 on the year.

Very sad that the press for BG is so far behind other schools.

BG travels their whole team (30-35) without any sports information or equipment mgr, and with a "student" trainer. It says something about the emphasis BG has on some sports. We normally get our info from the "other schools SID" who is traveling with them, or a coach faxes the stats.
Maybe since the "giving" campaign is going so well, they can come up with the money that is desperately needed to upgrade both the softball and baseball facilities. I doubt it, but I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Take this however you want, but it is BIZARRE for pitchers to be throwing 110+ pitch count, complete games this early in the year, and this is the second Northeastern pitcher to have done so, that I have noticed. I can not believe anyone, especially a northern team, is at that point of their conditioning, that they should or could be throwing that much at this time of the year. Maybe they do something different in Boston!

Factman, Funny you should bring this up because...as I looked through the stats, the 1st thing that jumped out at me was the 110 pitches...I think we've all been "conditioned" by watching Major League Baseball to the NUMBER of pitches thrown etc. But this DOES seem extreme to me, especially at this point of the season...I'll have to email my brother, whose JC team from Md. just returned from their Spring trip to Fla. to see how HE handles this...Guessing it'll be a lot different , especially since he told me he lost two pitchers to injury on the trip. (not because of excessive pitches).

I don't know what more could be done having an SID physically on location in Florida. The stats and write-ups that have been provided are exactly what other schools provide.

Also, as a point of reference, Kent is 2-5 and Eastern Michigan is 0-10 and just lost 24-3. I think northern teams in general just need a few games to work out the kinks.
