Well, just like MAC basketball, football and pretty much every other sport for that matter, this is where it all counts - in MAC play. BG is set to open its MAC schedule this weekend with a three-game series at Western Michigan. WMU is having a very good season as the Broncos stand 12-4-1 on the year. WMU has already beaten BG this year after posting a 15-5 win over the Falcons in a non-conference game on March 1st down in Bradenton, Florida. This is the second year in a row BG will have to play WMU in Kalamazoo. Last year WMU won the series two games to one. BG lost games one and two 3-1 and 5-1 respectively before winning the series finale 9-5.
Let's go up there and get this series. Last year we were swept three games to none by EMU and then lost our first two to WMU and we were 0-5 in the MAC right off the bat and never recovered. Only six of the 12 teams in the conference make the MAC Tournament and getting this series would be a huge step in trying to make the tournament this year.

GO BG!!!
Wow, going to eight teams and moving to a neutral site would be a great idea IMO. Thanks for the info. Ohio just played Purdue in a four-game series at that stadium this past weekend.factman wrote:I believe the MAC is going to a EIGHT team tournament this year, and I think it is going to be in Chillocothe (sp) at the Paints stadium. Going to a neutral sit is a good thing in my book.

I love going to Chillicothe Paints games. The Frontier League is great. That being said, VA Stadium in Chillicothe has the weirdest rubbery turf in the world. To make the stadium more profitable, they installed this stuff that allows them to play softball, soccer and HS baseball and anything on it with no wear and tear. They say it's FieldTurf but, it's bouncy, bouncy, bouncy.
The Paints have a nice home field advantage as balls bound over visiting outfielders heads and grounders skip under their gloves. If they play the tourney there, look for a lot of weird plays. It might not be great baseball in a pure sense, but it will be fun.

Things looking up
Looking at this years team I have to say things are looking up. This is a young team that will contiue to get better and better. If we can keep scoring runs the way we are we have a great shot at the tourny. This weekend series will be key.
