BGSU Rugby Ranked 3rd in Nation

April 8, 2008 - DI men's college rugby is as competitive as it has been in a long time. That may seem a strange thing to say, and in one sense it does contradict what we've been saying for some time.

Let's rephrase: If you took BYU and Cal out of the mix, then the national championship would be completely up for grabs. There are several teams ranked #3 through #18 who could do a lot of damage on the national stage. See how confused it is, since in out Top 16 there are three teams that aren't even going to the national playoffs. So the playoffs have their 16, but we all know that Navy, Davis and Wyoming are strong enough to be there.

Feeling under-appreciated Tennessee, Dartmouth, and Minnesota? Don't blame you. The great thing about playoff rugby is that you have a chance to prove yourself when it matters most.

The big movers this week were Colorado and Air Force. Air Force drops eight places and Colorado rises six after the Buffs beat the Zoomies. Also moving up, Central Washington, who will look for a great tournament from Utah to prove they deserve to be even higher. Army goes up 15 after losing to Navy by a paltry two points. Is Bowling Green really the third best team in the country? We'll see in ten days. Undefeated over three seasons says a lot. Is this their year?

Good to hear the tradition continues..

BGSU Rugby - our business is winning...
...and business is good.

I had a friend try out for the rugby team. Tough S.O.B. Always dominated in our neighborhood athletic ventures. Decent HS athlete.

He couldn't make it.

Rubgy players are tough.

Man, that is great to hear! #3 in the nation....

Rugby is one of the toughest sports out there. I have a friend in Green that played Rugby at BG.

Keep it going, Rugby!

I have been to the past couple A-side rugby games and it is defiantly fun to watch. I will be very intrested to see how we do at Nationals this year cause it looks like this team could do pretty well.
