I have nothing to say about it yet (heck, the ice isn't down yet) but once stuff gets going on the best sport in the world, I'll have more to say here.

Hey, another curler!! I curled at BG when I was there and continued here in Rochester. I quit regular league curling about 6 years ago.

In that case you might be interested in the state of curling at BGSU.

It's not quite the craze, but it's popular. It is an intramural sport that has a few different leagues. Competitively, in 2003 one team from BG went to the national college tournament and won gold in the toughest division.

Of course the year after it was my team that represented BG in the national tournament and we went 0-3. But the sport is really picking up in this area. The regional tournament was held at the Detroit Curling Club, and several schools were represented (Eastern Michigan, Michigan State, Miami, BG, Oakland). We did finish 3rd out of 7 teams, so that was pretty satisfying.

With my great influence I should be able to get more curling awareness on the campus. Being such a popular drinking sport, I'm amazed it hasn't caught on quite yet.

I wish UT had curling, I love it. People rip it when you say "o Im a curler" but thats because they are ignorant about it. Once you play it, you will love it, no matter who you are. Its great fun. I need to find a league again....

UT tried to start a curling team. But everytime they were handed a broom they asked where to clean.

Everytime they were asked to get a rock, they came back with a ziplock full of crack.

I should start a club team there. I would school them all, and we'd at least beat buffalo every year.

I'll admit, Curling actually looks fun. I've always been amazed at the raw quantity of booze they haul out of the arena lounge after a....what is called, a "Bon spiel?"

I think the Lambda Chi's did a curling event right before a hockey game once a few years ago.

I think we should go to a curling event and paint our chests on the "sidelines". The other team would crap their pants, and therefor, lose.

The College Curling USA National Tournament is in two weeks -- March 18-20. BG will have two teams representing, myself on one of them. Our teams (I'm sure all teams) are really looking forward to competing in Chicago this year. Wish us luck!
