Great stuff. I was lucky enough to cover three of those Falcons during my time at BG.

Popovich and Williamson were players who helped transform the program into a legitimate MAC contender.

Popovich was a game-changer who could control the game at the setter position.

Williamson hit so much harder than anyone the Falcons have ever had before. I remember the first time I was in Anderson for a practice. You could literally hear when Williamson hit - it was ... smack, smack, smack, BOOOOOOOM. Just incredible.

Hopkins was something special, too. She had some amazing hops and was one of the smartest hitters ever. She had the uncanny ability to hit just about any shot to the one spot the other team couldn't get to. And she was one of the most competitive players I ever covered - very intense on the court.

It was great watching some of those girls play...anyone remember Chelsey's first season at Anderson? I remember, it might have been the FIRST game of her Falcon career at Anderson, Chelsey chasing down a ball from way back and getting it back over the net and eventually leading to a point. I was doing highlights for BG24 and remember that play like it was yesterday. I got to see Gothke, Swiger, Halm and Meek...awesome players!

I believe that was the same game where Gothke went like over the scorer's table to save a ball

That's the kind of intensity Coach V instilled in the Falcons and that trademark is evident today. That woman is a treasure and has done amazing things with our program.
