Post by BGSU33 »

Has anyone heard who any of our non-conference series will be against this upcoming season?

About 50 schools have released their 2011 baseball schedules and I was able to piece together a little bit of our non-conference schedule from a few of them. The only three-game series I could find was with Cleveland State, the rest are either single games or home-and-home games. The thing I really like about the three-game series with CSU is, the Vikings play their home games in Avon, Ohio at a new stadium there, and I was told by a Kent State baseball player that the MAC Tournament is suppose to be moving there this season. If so, this would give us three games in there this season before MAC Tournament play (if we make the tournament). BG did play one game there last season. Here's what I could find so far:

3/19 BG @ Cleveland State (DH)
3/20 BG @ Cleveland State
3/22 BG vs Dayton
4/19 BG @ Dayton
4/12 BG @ Michigan
4/20 BG @ Ohio State
5/17 BG vs Cleveland State

The MAC baseball tournament is staying in Chillicothe for at least one more year.

Factman, is BG heading to Florida next spring? I'm going to the Ft Myers area Feb 24-28. I think BG is usually down there in early March, though.

I haven't been down to Chilicothe in a few years, but from the last time I was there I would have to imagine that it would be a good place to hold the tournament. Avon would be easier to get to for the majority of our fans, but Chilicothe has to be the better atmosphere. Hard to believe the season is only 4 months away.

I was actually glad when we found a neutral site for the tournament a fews years ago. I've been to the stadium in Chilicothe and didn't mind the setting and facility, but I think the venue in Avon would be much better all the way around. Factman mentioned above I guess this isn't going to happen this year, but the guy I spoke with at Kent State said he as informed it would likely be moving there. Maybe next season perhaps.
