The Falcons will travel to Baton Rouge, LA, for the LSU Tiger Classic and face LSU, La Tech and Purdue. BG returns 10 Letterwinners and loses 2 from last season. 8 starters return while we must replace 2 starters from a year ago. This could be a very good year for Coach Salsburg and the Falcons...

I've always been a fan of softball thanks to my sister (played 4 years at Oakland). I'm going to try and make a few games this year.

I've often thought fast pitch softball would be the breakthru sport for women. I know its similar to baseball but its different enough to be truely their own sport and avoid the inevitable comparison to the equivalent men's sport.

Women of any size can play.
Its fast paced.
Its fun to watch.
Its understandable to a wide audience.
It can't be overly expensive to have a program.

I'm a little surprised there is not a more viable pro circuit/league.

That is one of the top reasons why I am a fan of the sport as well, I don't know why but it seems like every time I go to a BG baseball game it feels like it just drags on and on, maybe its just me. Never feel that way at a softball game

It's a great sport to watch. I love how the teams do chants during the game...the players definitely get into the games.

Falcons close the weekend 0-5, losing a close one to La Tech, 5-4, and Purdue, 2-0. Pretty stiff competition down there in Batty Rouge.

BG is off now until the Phyllis Rafter Memorial hosted by Kennesaw State in Kennesaw, Ga. Feb. 25-27.
