My guess would be that this is another case of the track/xc budgets and scholarships being cut by the AD, so now he needs someone to take the blame for the downfall of the program, other than himself!

Paulson's been there over a decade. Is it possible she wants a change? Being responsible for 3 teams cannot be easy.
