Ladies and Gentlemen, fans of all ages,

I apologize if the continuity between this message and the responses no longer make sense.

Due to the directness and honesty of the response by BGSU SID, I have voluntarily removed my original opening message, and replaced it with this apology.

Initially I had pointed out what appeared to be inconsistencies in the time of events mentioned in two press releases on the Athletics website regarding activities at the Stroh Center on Saturday, September 10.
http://www.bgsufalcons.com/news/2011/9/ ... 13401.aspx
http://www.bgsufalcons.com/news/2011/9/ ... 14419.aspx

In the processes of my pointing these out, I did my usual lampooning, harpooning, and loonytuning.
In the process of my pointing these out, I implied that a program designed for football was taking precedence over the volleyball tournament, and implied that the Athletic department cared more about the football program than the Volleyball program.

The message from BGSU SID that follows my post shows that I was wrong. I maintain that it was easy to draw these conclusions based solely upon the information in those two releases.

As one of the referees said after making a call and quickly changing it at the women's soccer game against Detroit, "My bad."

Hopefully 3 things will happen as a result of this:
1. I will not jump to conclusions.
2. Athletics will be more clear in the future when reporting on seemingly unrelated events that are very much intertwined.
3. Fans will attend the games of their choice, cheer our Falcons onto victory, and enjoy themselves.

I'm also hoping that one more press release explaining the order of events at the Stroh Center for Saturday, September 10 will be posted on the Athletics web site since more fans will see it there than will see it here.

I am as anxious as ever that our football falcons will whoop Morgan State and that our volleyball falcons do more to host Canisius than host them at 5:30 p.m.

Sorry for any confusion between the two press releases. Typically, the Stroh Show will begin 2:45 before kick-off and end approximately one hour before kick. However, because of the volleyball tournament, there will be an abbreviated indoor session this weekend. From what I am told, the band will continue to play for some time in the parking lot (I imagine weather-permitting) of the Stroh Center this week. We did not want to miss this very first opportunity to do this in the Stroh but the proper adjustments were made to be sure the volleyball tournament is not affected.

How about the parking situation for Saturday? Will the grass lots be open? I was told by one of the grounds guys today that they would be closed.

I don't have a complete answer for you on parking at this time. As of this morning, there was no mention of any changes to the parking map when we had our game staging meeting: http://bgsufalcons.com/documents/2011/9 ... g_Map2.pdf

There has been a lot of rain and maybe something changed between then and now, but it hasn't come across my desk as of yet. If I hear differently, I'll let you know.

I know nothing about this but I'm impressed by your post. That takes some cojones. If I am ever wrong I hope I'll cowboy up like you did. ;-)
