Drove by Adrian College today...they're a Divison III school. How do they have a better baseball fscility than we do? I'm not a baseball slappy like factman...but this is ridiculous...

That is really funny that you say that Flip. I told GC to go see that facility the first few months he was here and he said he would, but I am pretty sure he has not seen it.
He decided to cut baseball scholarships and budget instead! We damn near lost a kid to them this year and they have NO athletic scholarships.
To add insult to injury, the press is named after Frank Dick, who is a BGSU alum!!!

Adrian's field is outstanding. My nephew played there in a summer tournament, and I was really impressed.

I heard GC was going to check it out, but Gregg Brandon gave him bad directions.

Since MAC football becomes a TV league with randomly scheduled games in November...I'm trying to decide if I want to adopt the Adrian Bulldogs or the brand spanking new to NAIA football Siena Heights Saints as my "home" team. They both play on Saturdays in the afternoon...a really novel concept that the MAC ought to consider to build an actual fanbase.

For Men! There was an article in one of the Detroit papers not too long ago (Sorry I don't have time to research the link) that stated Adrian was being investigated for gender biasis in facilities. A little bit like the discussion on one of these forums earlier this year regarding Ball State softball having to dress in a field. Wish I could be more specific but it was fairly egregious regarding fields and particularly locker rooms.

There are a lot of DIII schools with nice Baseball facilities, actually. And just because they don't have athletic scholarships (no DIII school does, right?), they still provide pretty good assistance to the student athletes. My cousin plays down in Kentucky for a DIII school and doesn't really pay anything to go to school.

Heard Nick Swisher paid for a new field at ohio state. The entire surface is field turf and the only actual dirt is on the pitchers mound. Interesting.

It would be interesting to see how attendance has changed since we started playing games on the weekdays. That would not be hard to find out.

I know that the announced attendance isn't the "butts in seats" total, but here are the attendance stats for November home games over the last 10 years. I didn't look at average attendance for the full year since 2001.

2001 - Miami (Saturday) - 22,828 Toledo (Friday) - 26,483
2002 - EMU (Saturday - coldest game on record) - 12,974
2003 - KSU (Saturday) - 12,035 Toledo (Saturday) - 29,724
2004 - WMU (Saturday) - 18,439 Marshall (Saturday) - 18,187
2005 - UT (Tuesday) - 17,438
2006 - Miami (Wednesday - mud bowl) - 25,616 (attendance inflation at its finest right there)
2007 - Akron (Friday) - 12,766 UT (Friday) - 18,926
2008 - KSU (Saturday) - 10,411 Buffalo (Friday - for the MAC East title) - 13,284
2009 - Akron (Friday) - 9,163 UT (Friday) - 14,075
2010 - Miami (Wednesday) - 12,073 WMU (Friday) - 5,121

People are pinching pennies and we aren't nearly as fun to watch as those early to mid 2000s teams, but those are some sad comparative numbers. Last 5 UT games - 26,483 to 29,724 (on a Saturday morning at 11am) to 17,438 (for a shot at the MACC) to 18,926 to 14,075. This year, 22k announced on a Saturday (homecoming) that felt like early November.

It's funny when you see those numbers... I was at the Kent game in 2003 and the EMU game in 2002. There weren't 5,000 people at either of those...there might not have been 5,000 at both combined
