...at the Cherry Blosson Invite in Fairfax. BG went 4-1 overall and gave up only 3 runs all weekend!

BG defeated George Mason twice, 5-1 and 1-0, beat Cornell 7-0 and split with Albany State...winning 1-0 while losing 2-0. The Falcons are off to a solid start at 14-8 overall. Last year, IIRC, BG won only 12 games all year.

BG will travel to IPFW for a DH Wed and then have a week off before playing at Michigan on 3/28. The MAC season starts on the 30th.

GO BEEG! :supz:

The two biggest reason for the improvement: 1. Much better pitching--Fast pitch softball is based on pitching and defense and this year's team has improved based on the pitching thus far. Defense was addressed last year and has stabalized.
2. A weaker early schedule-- Last year's spring schedule was brutal with games agains LSU, Purdue, Mississippi, Penn State, Georgia Tech and a number of South based teams. This year only Auburn was an elite team and we have played a number of northern based nontraditional power teams.

the pitching has been huge, it was much too inconsistent last season, especially in MAC play, great starts for all three pitchers, two freshmen and a sophomore, we could be set in the circle for a long time
