WOW! Let's hope they can hang on thru the last 3 innings.

... By the way, does anyone know why KENT was the #1 seed and Buffalo #2? (At least that's what I was told)... thought Buffalo had the best regular season record in the MAC. I know that KSU is the "perennial power" in baseball, but this didn't seem logical to me.

Kent actually had a better league record than Buffalo. Three outs away, BG leads 7-0 after 8 innings.

What a job by BG. Our pitching really really came through in this tournament. Nick Bruns had a great great tourney- and career- for BG. Two wins and a save. Complete game shut out/four hitter in title game. And all that from a closer who rarely goes more than two innings. Against the MAC's hottest team. Unreal.
People down Mercer County way remember Nick at St Henry.
What a coaching job. Coach Schmitz and staff- outstanding!
I want to travel to the regional. Hey, you never know.
Go Falcons!

A MAC championship by a men's team -- what a concept! Hoping it catches on.

My thoughts exactly!!! This just goes to show exactly what can happen if you give yourself a chance. Remember, we needed a comeback in the season finale in the bottom of the ninth vs Buffalo just to make the tournament field! Then we get in, win our first few games, win an elimination game then win the championship. I am so happy for this team, and like manager said, it is so nice to see a men's team finally break through and win a MAC Championship. If only football or basketball could do the same. But congrats BG baseball and good luck in the Regional. Just go out, how fun, play hard, and enjoy it. You deserved it!

Doing this with the fewest scholarship in the conference (tied with Buffalo).
I'd say Coach is doing his part, imagine what he could do if you gave him a few more scholarship that other MAC teams have.

That's a big part of this truly remarkable accomplishment. Imagine: this is only the fourth baseball title in BG HISTORY. Now, I don't know how long they've been handing out MAC trophies in baseball, but it has to be longer than 50 years -- so this is a big deal for the Falcons.
It also shows how horrid the dry spell has been for some of our men's teams through the years.
A huge congrats to the coach and the team. I actually got to see them play during one of their title seasons in 1972, so it's great to see them getting to play on in the NCAAs.

This will be my third baseball regional with BG playing. If you have a chance, GO! It's a great time and good way to support your Falcons. Louisville is a fun city and a GREAT place to spend a weekend. Churchill Downs is also open and within walking distance of Jim Patterson Stadium where the baseball will be played. Good nightlife downtown on the river and Bardstown Road also. Hope to see a lot of you there.
