After dropping 5 of its first 6 conference games of the season to Ball State (0-3) and NIU (1-2), BG has won its last two series against Miami (2-1) and Ohio (2-1) to get to 5-7 in MAC play. BG shoulda swept OU but blew a 2-run lead in the bottom of the 9th in game two of the series or the Falcons woulda swept the Bobcats. Still, nice to see this team getting back after it. BG hosts WMU (5-7) in a three-game series this week. Gotta keep getting more series victories to keep pace for a spot in the MAC Tournament field. Keep it going BG, beat Western!

Good to see the wins coming...I'm looking forward to the weekend series at Kent State. Should be able to make 2 of the 3 games.

BG wins another series, takes 2 of 3 vs WMU. That's three consecutive weekend series victories for the Falcons. BG had trouble closing out game two again this weekend. Just like last week the Falcons carried a 2-run lead into the 9th inning and couldn't hold it, but they were able to get game three today 1-0 in the 9th. BG was "that close" to posting back-to back sweeps over OU and WMU but the team showed some heart coming back to win game three of both series after suffering tough losses like that. BG started out 0-3 in the MAC and was just 1-5 in conference play after the first two series, but has gone 6-3 the last three series and now stands 7-8. Gonna have to keep it rolling next week with a tough three-game series at CMU.

Keep winning at least 2 outta 3 and we'll be in the MAC Tourney. Great walk off win today to finish off WMU>

I bet they would even be better if they weren't 3 scholarships short of the NCAA limit (11.7). In baseball that is about 6 good players. Another nice series win.

Is this a common practice for MAC baseball teams or is BG unique in doing this?

It is unique. I believe everyone else in the MAC is fully "scholar shipped", with the possible exception of one other.
It is time for the UNIVERSITY to step up and do THEIR part, and private $$ can then take care of the rest, but many donors will not contribute until BGSU does THEIR part.

on another subject...is Callaway a 3B/QB or a QB/3B?

BG beat CMU in game one of the series opener in Mt. Pleasant, 7-2. Decided to take the day off and make the trip up today. Looks like I picked a good game to go to. Great pitching effort. BG finally pulled even in the MAC standings and tomorrow will gun for their first winning mark in the conference. Hopefully we can get at least one more game up here and win another series.

CMU is now 27-14, 12-4 MAC> EXCELLENT win! Get another one tomorrow!

That's BG's fourth consecutive MAC weekend series victory! But we gotta keep it up, this year's MAC race is as tight as it has been in years at this stage of the season. Only three more MAC series left. This weekend it's a very important three-game set against Akron, who we are tied with in the standings.

BiG series at Kent State this weekend! KSU has certainly had our number over the years. Gotta get at least a win or two in Kent to keep pace with the rest of the group. The race for the Top-8 spots to make the MAC Tournament this season has been as tight as we've seen in recent years at this point in the season. Buffalo is facing an uphill battle but the other 11 teams are all in the running and one good or bad weekend could make or break the season for someone this weekend.

And BG loses 3-2 in the opener....dammit.
