Baseball vs. Kent State

Not a great start to the weekend. Kent State wins 14-0 & clinches the MAC regular-season championship at Steller Field, AND their pitcher throws a no-hitter. His (Eric Lauer's) ERA was something like 0.50 in MAC games heading into today, so it's not like we're the only team to struggle against him, but it never looked like we had a chance today. Despite the final score, we got a very good outing from our starter, and it was 1-0 for a long time, and 2-0 going into the ninth, but there was never any kind of a sense that we would be able to hit their pitcher.
Once KSU batted around twice (BATTED AROUND TWICE) in the ninth inning, we baseball experts knew that Lauer would probably be able to hold a 14-run lead. The only drama was the no-hit bid, and he took the drama out of that by getting three quick outs.
Oh well, if we can get a win tomorrow, it sets us up with a chance to take the series, and we could have a shot of getting into the tournament with a good series at Buffalo next weekend. The winning needs to start soon, though.
