2025 Baseball Season
I figure we can just have a running thread for this season since the updates are usually pretty infrequent, but with BG finishing the sweep at Akron this weekend, this looks to be shaping into a pretty special season. BG moves to 13-5 (6-0), has an 8-game winning streak for the first time since 2010, and swept Akron for the first time since 2014. This is a team we should be paying attention to.

Went to the Friday and Sunday games at Akron. Another road sweep in the MAC. This team is def legit and not a one hit wonder. Next weekend, Kent State comes to the Stell for 3. That is gonna be a BiG series. Couple of non conf games on Tues and Wed.

Re: 2025 Baseball Season
Thanks for starting this thread. I generally post regularly during baseball season since I have such a vested interest in the team. And no, this program was not a "one hit wonder" with the results from one year ago. Hallock has put together a very good roster and I expect BG will be a force in the MAC for as long as we can keep him here. If his team this season manages to win a second regular season MAC title -- and can take that next step into the NCAA by winning the tournament, I suspect he'll be a hot commodity in college baseball coaching circles.

Re: 2025 Baseball Season
Yet another shootout type game with Dayton and BG extends its winning streak to 10. I guess that's the longest in at least 15 years. I like that they are putting up this type of offense, and I'm guessing some of the younger/newer members are getting more playing time with these mid-week games. BG now will host Kent for a weekend league series, the first home series in MAC play this season.
Here are the game notes from BGSUfalcons.com
FALCON STAT FACTS
With the win, the Falcons have now won 10-straight games, the longest winning streak in 15 years for BGSU. It also marks just the ninth double-digit winning streak in program history.
Bowling Green is now 15-5 to start the season, tying for the second-best start to a season through 20 games in program history. BGSU also started 15-5 in 1989, 1983, 1976 and 1975. The best start is set at 18-2 from the 1944 season, a year in which BGSU went 20-3 overall.
Garrett Wright was hit by a pitch in the game, his 32nd time being hit in his BGSU career. Wright is now tied for the program record for HBPs in a Falcon uniform with TJ Blanton (2007-10). For the season, he's now been hit 11 times, tying for sixth in program history for a single-season, a record he set last year at 21.
DJ Newman doubled to the right center gap in the game, his third double in just two games, to extend his hitting streak to eight games and his on-base streak to 15.
Cooper McKenzie added a hit in the game as well, bringing his hitting streak to seven games. Newman and McKenzie now have the two longest active hitting streaks for BGSU.
TJ Takats hit his second home run in as many days for the Falcons, belting a three-run shot to right center. Takats entered the week without a home run.
At the plate, Sam Seidel logged a four-hit day for the Falcons, his second four-hit game of the season, but his first logging a hit in each of his at-bats. Seidel also scored twice in the game and has now scored two times in three straight games for BGSU.
Garrett Sloan added another two-hit game for the Falcons. In the last five games, Sloan now has four multi-hit days. He's added six RBI and three runs scored over the span as well.
Owen Poole logged his second consecutive scoreless appearance, going three innings for the Falcons with three strikeouts for the win. Poole now has a win in each of his last two outings, giving him three for his BGSU career.
Titus Lotz came on for the Falcons to record the final out, getting a flyout to do so. With the appearance, Lotz earned his second save of the season. As a team, the Falcons now have nine saves this season, already just one shy of matching the total from the 2024 season. The program record for saves in a season is set at 12, being achieved in 2010, 2009 and 1994.

This team simply never gives up....you gotta play us 9+ innings to beat us and they are a blast to watch. They look like they're having the time of their lives out there. Will be at the YSU roadie and thinking of the 5/3rd game against tsun in May.

Re: 2025 Baseball Season
Since moving to the lead off batter, Takats is hitting more HRs. I wonder if he was trying too hard to go long but now just tries to drive the ball and has better results.

Well, yesterday was an ugly, ugly loss, but it's just one loss.
BG needs to win today and take the series.
Win each series (at minimum) and you'll win the league. They proved that last season.

Re: 2025 Baseball Season
Losing their first MAC series since early May of 2024 (which was also at home by the way), means the team needs to recoup and start a new winning streak. Winning each MAC series is the surest way to repeat as champions and, yes, it isn't easy to do. But the talent is there.

I was following on live stats and it was 4-2 KSU. Then I checked again after a bit and it was 20-2 and my jaw hit the floor. They put up 14 runs in one inning.Falconwriter wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 4:53 pm Well, yesterday was an ugly, ugly loss, but it's just one loss.

Re: 2025 Baseball Season
BG sweeps CMU on the road in Mt Not So Pleasant over the weekend! It was BG's first sweep of CMU in program history, which is kinda hard to believe. 7-5, 4-3 & 6-5 in 10 innings. Falcons are now 20-7, 10-2 MAC, BG travels to Michigan State Wed before returning to the Stell to face Miami this weekend for 3 games. Miami is also 10-2 in the MAC so this series is BiG.
