So glad we have a real coach these days. BG is now 5-1 after yesterday's sweep of Towson (7-2), and Lipscomb (9-8), in the Purple & White Classic, hosted by Towson. Final game of the classic is at 10 today and a rematch with Towson.

GO FALCONS!!!

And BG erases a 7-0 Towson lead en route to an 11-10 win. Falcon Awesome.

Next weekend BG travels to the E Tenn State Tournament where they will face host ETSU 3 times and Tenn State twice.

Nice to have this start but the competition has been suspect (early opponents had a 94-167 record in 2025) and BG's pitching is still not good. The offense has won most games and we have out hit, out fielded, and shown more speed and success on the basepaths. That part is coaching but the pitching staff while slightly improved still holds a 5.83 ERA and WHIP of 1.85 and BA against of .317. BG is hitting .318, a razor thin margin. Should be a better year with an obviously better coach but the MAC will have likely better opposition than we have faced thus far.

Swept by Northern Illinois at home on Friday. One run scored. Now 5-15 in the MAC. This sport is supposed to be the one our AD knows given his wife used to coach it.

Lost 2 out 3 to UMass this weekend and fell to dead last in the MAC. Can you feel the momentum?

Finished dead last in the MAC. A slight improvement over the previous incompetence of letting Moosbrugger hire a coach while basically fired but still working for BGSU.

The worst collective year performance across athletics in BGSU history marches on. Raises coming in 2026-2027 for the staff?

I mean, she took them from 6 wins in 2024 to 20 this year. That's not totally nothing. Last in the MAC obviously still isn't great, but they've improved in some way. Not a huge softball follower or anything, but feels like next year is when they need to take a big jump in conference play.

Ah yes the old BGSU botches it so bad they go to 6 wins, then want accolades for getting back to last place, but winning more games. Around Bowling Green we call this Mike Jinksing the standards. We’ve seen this move before.

When you look at the season as a whole there was progress but compared to the prior coaching staff it would be difficult not to have progress. Still this team from a stat point had better base running with 94 SB in 103 attempts, way way higher than previous seasons. We had a higher OBP than our competition but slugging was considerably lower than the opponents by 72 basis points, We only hit 22 HRs in 49 games. Still overall the batting was competitive. The pitching is the issue and just not in ERA and other measurements but really in strikeouts. Our pitchers totaled 111 Ks for the season to opponents 216. We averaged only 2.3 Ks per game and there were several games where the staff struck out 1 or zero batters. Opponents hit .294 to our .260. They really need a reliable stud pitcher who can control a game so that BG's team speed and non-power hitting is more competitive. Overall we also benefited from lesser competition in the early season nonleague games to build our win total.
