In case Rodney Rogers sees this graphic, green is good.

This is why he talks about it not being all about winning. This is why we focus on “enrollment numbers” while other MAC programs actually win. Smoke and mirrors leadership that no other schools are looking for, the worst place for BGSU to be.

Well, you have to give football at least a couple years before you can declare it a success or a failure, as with any sport. You cannot expect a one year miracle in most sports, but especially not football.

Softball was a dumpster fire before Gardner, and from what I've heard, we've at least crawled out of the fire but we're still not good. The rest of the sports on the list are performing at an average level, but I would argue that Chmiel is on a downward trend.

I'd be interested to see how this graphic looks next year. I expect to see Williams over 60%, Simon at around 55%, and George to be around 40% (predicting a 4-4 or 5-3 conference record, depending on how we do against Sacramento State).

Well BGSU created each and everyone of those dumpster fires. The football dumpster fire since Babers is well documented. The softball program didn't have to go in to the toilet. Rogers let people who shouldn't have real opinions on coaches convince a headed out the door AD, to hire someone who clearly had no business being a D1 head coach. It was obviously going to end poorly. Moosbrugger hired a tennis coach two days before he was fired. The same AD who Rogers oddly praised in his termination letter before paying for six more months and giving his kids free tuition. Who allowed that? Rodney Rogers. Each terrible decision becomes a minimum of five year cleanup to which allows the next coach horrible standards to claim success. The constant in all of this is Rodney Rogers. Photo op leadership.

On that graph green is good, so far none of DVDM's hires are considered "good".

Does it occur to anyone that this is actually Rodney’s plan? It is quite clear that athletics is not a priority for this university. It is a social activity, at best, for the students which is wildly different from when I was a student. Wins and losses are of marginal importance for Rodney’s math. He is going to do what is necessary to keep the big donors happy and I believe he genually wants to see success, if it happens, but it isn’t a priority.

I don’t blame him. I’ve said this a thousand times, for BGSU, winning is a financial problem. What I mean is that winning only creates a larger problem for the University because it knows it can only raise so much money from alumni and local businesses. 95% of most sucessful alums don’t live anywhere near Bowling Green and are far more likely to buy season tickets to see the Buckeyes. Yes we have a good business school but we don’t have a medical or law schools which are where you find the big bucks donors. If you have a business degree from BGSU and have significant potential, you aren’t staying in Wood County.

So, instead of complaining about Rodney or “Instagram Man,” DVDM, start thinking about the real business model. It is the paying students at the university and what it takes to attract and retain them. It is 2026 but Rodney runs this organization exactly as I would encourage him to. Maximize profits (student tuition) and minimize expenses that they don’t want that much. The whole Athletic Department is a loss so spend as little as possible on it.

I’m not so sure Rogers is running it as good as people think. BGSU takes maximum advantage of no real media in the area and certainly not one that would challenge them on anything. The local media is mostly taking the stories written for them by BGSU and local TV needs filler programming and ads. The Morning Show needs BGSU to exist and Falcon Sports Media is students. Under all those photo ops it’s not nearly as well run as you think. Smoke and mirrors with little to no accountability at the very top. As for DVDM he will hire whoever the person who strokes his ego the most wants. Just wait until they see how much he is actually spending especially now that Eddie George feels irrelevant already. Student fees are going up up up up.
