Baseball off to the Sunshine State

Post by BGSU33 »

BG is off to Bradenton, Florida for eight games. Trips like these are an absolutely killer to your pitching rotation because after that many consecutive games in a short amount of days, you are forced to use guys that normally wouldn't see any or extended action. But the bottom line is, we need to play and get some more games under our belts. We did well down in Florida last year, so hopefully we can repeat that again this year and come back ready for MAC action. I'll be at Wake Forest for an ACC series with Virginia this weekend, but I'll be following my Falcons too. Good luck BG, bring back some wins!

I'm at Wake Forest this weekend but I'll be down in Florida a few times this spring with Virginia baseball. We've got a weekend series in Tallahassee against Florida State and the ACC Tournament is in Jacksonville this year. We also go to Clemson and North Carolina which are two other fun stops for baseball in the ACC. We played at Miami last year and the ACC Tournament a few years ago was in St. Petersburg.

Oh, I forgot to mention, at Virginia's fundraiser event ths year we had Tommy Lasorda. I was talking to him and mentioned I went to BG and he right away brought up Hershiser and what a great player he was. Last year we had Cla Ripken for the event. It was pretty cool.

BGSU33: How are you affiliated with the UVA baseball team? Rick Riemblak (former Kent St and new Wake Forest baseball coach) is married to my cousin. I'm sure Rick is going to have Wake competitive in the ACC after they had a disappointing season last year.

I work in the Athletics Media Relations Office at Virginia and I am the baseball contact for UVa. Yes, I just saw Rick this weekend at Wake Forest as his Demon Deacons handed my Cavaliers three losses this weekend. He's got them playing well again and I'm sure he'll get WFU back to what it was just a few years ago.

Any info on the field in Bradenton?

Post by Falconfreak90 »

My dad is at his condo in Largo, about 45 min from Bradenton, and wants to take in a couple BG games. He and mom are '64 BG grads.

Any addresses or info would be great!
