Miami (Ohio) wins weekend series at Alabama!

Post by BGSU33 »

Miami (Ohio) won two of three against the Crimson Tide this past weekend. That is huge as 'Bama was ranked heading into the series.

And speaking of Miami (Ohio), they snatched a kid right from under our noses. The RedHawks plucked Connor Graham right out of Bowling Green, Ohio. He was listed the #2 top newcomer in the MAC and as the #39 freshman in the country by Baseball America. Wish he would have stayed at home.

Miami also built a new baseball stadium a year or so ago (as did Ohio U.). They are smallish, but very nice.

Hey our stadium is really nice. If you want to call it a stadium. I would be more likely to call it an eye soar at this point.
I really like OU's stadium. Something like that would make the campus look a lot better I think.

We offered Conner a scholarship, which amounted to more than Miami, and with his dad's universtiy employment, amopunted to about a full, which is hard to find in baseball. He wanted to go to school someplace else, just as he did in HS. Very good talent, but his "toughness" has been questioned in the past. Time will tell.
BG has just launched a campaign to build a lockerroom facility and eventually improve the stadium for baseball. There was a presentation in Florida for people attending and is something that is REALLY needed. They got home from Florida, only to find out that their lockerroom (visiting hockey) was going to be used by Alaska Fairbanks Monday and Tuesday until they leave for "the Joe", so we kick one of our own teams out of their facility (if you want to call it that) so another team can use it and the BG baseball team is three weeks into their season!!!!! They get kicked out again for a week during Ice Horizons the week, they play Kent, which is a very important series.
There is something WRONG with that thinking!!!

No doubt, Factman, there is something very wrong with that! Especially considering baseball is one of the "Core" sports in the MAC/BG. Considering what we have to work with and what we're up against with other teams in the league, BG baseball has done very, very well with all things considered (facilities, weather, etc.). These guys deserve better and it would be great to see a commitment made to improve the BG baseball facility. As I mentioned in another post, Miami and Ohio have recently built beautiful new stadiums and Kent State is either already in or is about to build a new place too. If I'm not mistaken, CMU has a newer place as well. Our stadium has potential and the upgrades were needed and are better, but we're a long way away from what it could/should be.
GO BG!!!
