Nolan Reimold named Louisville Slugger's National Player of the Week!!! Too bad we couldn't get a win or two at Ball State. Oh well, congratulations Nolan!
LOUISVILLE SLUGGER'S" NATIONAL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
* OF Nolan Reimold, Bowling Green St.: Reimold hit 4 home runs, two
doubles and knocked in 13 runs over four games last week. He was 8-for-16
at the plate with a 1.375 slugging percentage.
* RHP Mike Mlotkowski, Oklahoma City: Mlotkowski threw a perfect game
against Hastings College. During the 7-inning contest, the 6-foot-7,
250-pounder, struck out 13. It was his third career no-hitter with the
Stars as he recorded two no-hitters in 2004, tying an NAIA record for most
no-nos thrown in a season.
* RHP Chris Mason, North Carolina-Greensboro: Mason struck out a
school-record 16 batters in a 6-2, 9-inning win over East Tennessee St. He
did not allow a walk and gave up no earned runs on four hits.
* RHP Kevin Mulvey, Villanova: After not registering a no-hitter since
1962, the Villanova baseball team saw its second in 28 days last Saturday.
This time it was Mulvey who threw the no-hitter in a seven inning, 3-0 win
against Connecticut. He threw only 78 pitches and walked three. The
Wildcats' first no-hitter this season was thrown by RHP Nick Allen on Feb.
26 against Norfolk St.
Nolan Reimold Named Louisville Slugger's National POTW!!!
I agree, I think Reimold is gone after this year if he plans to continue playing baseball. He is very likely to be an early round pick.
Most college players who "want" to play baseball are likely to leave early if they are drafted in the first 1-15 rounds of the MLB Amateur Draft. We had four guys drafted here at Virginia last year in the 3rd, 6th, 16th and 36th rounds. The 3rd and 16th round guys were both juniors and they both left early. The 6th rounder was a senior and went, and the 36th rounder was a (medical) red-shirt senior, but he elected to come back for another season to improve his stock. That's sometimes hard to do as a senior, but in his case, I think he will.
A player can go pro straight out of high school if they are drafted, but if they decide to go to college, they aren't drafted until after their junior year. Once you get past the 15th round or so as an underclassman, most guys usually come back for a senior year. But like every sport, you always have the guys who turn down great offers like HS kids passing on the draft even if they were drafted in the first five rounds, or guys leaving early who are drafted in really late rounds, etc.

GO BG!!!
Sorry, I actually know all about the draft and the rules and everything, I was just wondering where your best prediction of where he would go was. I am the radio announcer for the Marlins short season affiliate in the New York Penn League, so it would be cool for me if Reimold got drafted by Florida because he would more than likely come to us.

Why would he want to go play for the Indians? May rather play for the Devil Rays. You just want him to play for Cleveland because Juan "Gone" Gonzales will not play more than 20 games this year.golfertk14 wrote:Wow congratz to N.R., he's totally deserving of the POTW award, lookat his stats! Hope the Indians pick him up!

I want him with the Tribe because they may need a power-hitter in the next few years. By the way it's Gonzalez, not Gonzales.bgsufan1972 wrote:Why would he want to go play for the Indians? Well whoever he is, he wont last. 80 games in the past 3 plus years. Was named opening day starter on saturday, and then sunday pulled a hamstring. Don't know about you, but I saw that coming.
