and 401!!!!
Falcons take two from IPFW and play two more today (Saturday).
He is the ONLY coach to reach 400 wins as a Falcon, so I guess that makes him the all time winningest coach in Bowling Green history and averaging over 30 wins per season!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Five East Division Titles
Two MAC Tournament Titles
He doesn't get near the recognition that he deserves.
I missed the first game due to classes but showed up for the 2nd. They hammered IPFW in that game!! Our guys were hitting everything everywhere! It was awesome!!! Go Falcons!!

Nobody could have said it better. Congrats to Coach Schmitz on #400. His records speak for themselves.

FALCON FOOTBALL ROCKS!
Most talented players coached: Andy Tracy, Kelly Hunt, Nolan Reimold, Andy Hudak
I found it interesting that the most talented players coached included two current players. Speaking of Kelly Hunt, his days as a minor league baseball player may be closing if he doesn't turn it around soon. .190 average, with 33 Ks and only 6 walks in 147 ABs. 24 years old in high-A ball isn't a very good sign either.

Alot of that is probably from a short memory standpoint. Though Nolan seems to have a career going that will stick in the memory of BG baseball fans for years to come. I don't follow the baseball team close enough to know what kind of numbers Hudak puts up, but it wouldn't surprise me if you really looked at it, you could probably compare him to a number of players in years past and have a good argument either way. Hudak just happens to be in front of us right now.
Then again, as I said, I don't follow the team day in and day out, and haven't seen BG baseball in person in 5 or so years at least, so Hudak could just as easily be as much of a stud as the other three in the list, too.

The only player I can think of that played during Coach Schmitz's tenure that would deserve mentioning would be Brian Koelling. Brian was drafted by the Reds back in the early 90s, so I think that would put him on one of Coach Schmitz first teams at BG.
That is a good choice too, but I am pretty sure he wasn't recruited by Coach Schmitz, so that might have some bearing on his choices.
MVP's
1991 none
1992 none
1993 none
1994 Rob Kallage
1995 none
1996 Andy Tracy
1997 Brian Cannon
1998 Bob Niemet
1999 Bob Niemet (also belongs on the list......great leader)
2000 Aric Christman
2001 Aric Christman and Lee Morrison
2002 Kelly Hunt
2003 Kelly Hunt
2004 Nolan Reimold (soph)
If/when the Falcons end their season, be it this week or after the NCAA tourney, I wonder if Andy Hudak will sign a minor league contract with someone? I found this today over at Baseball America:

Brian was definitely a tremendous player. He had outstanding speed and could cause a close play on a cleanly fielded, sharply hit directly at the second baseman. I wish that injuries hadn't derailed his professional career. He may have been able to stick in the big leagues if not for injuries.
