Is anyone watching the baseball College World Series? Very exciting stuff. My husband's school, Baylor, came back from being down 7-0 to beat Tulane 8-7 last night. What an awesome game! Didn't watch the Nebraska-ASU game but saw the highlights on ESPN & it looked just as exciting.
We will be tuned in tonight to see Baylor beat Texas for the 5th time this year. Can't wait! If they win tonight, we are even talking about going up to Nebraska this weekend to see the championship. Anyone not watching ought to tune in today. FL-ASU play at 1pm central, & BU-UT play at 6.
College sports are so much more exciting to watch!

There was an interesting comment made last night during the 7th inning of the Tulane-Baylor game by Harold Reynolds of ESPN. With the score 7-0 in favor of Tulane, he suggested Tulane take out their starting pitcher and put in a young guy so he could get some experience in the College World Series. Reynolds made the comment to the effect that it would take a huge rally for Baylor to get back in the game. Well, Harold, it happened. To be honest, I don't think of a 7-run lead as being all that insurmountable in baseball, and I guess it isn't..

People completely underrate Baylor in all sports. Here in TX, it's particularly bad & the media is completely biased pro-UT. Just watch tonight, and you will hear all the T-sippers. Ugggh!
But the good news is, I just saw where ASU beat Florida, so now, everybody's got a loss in the tournament except Texas. I hate the horns!!!

So do I, but that could be because they knocked out Miami.... :ZING:
Oh, and Ziggy, is the "Zing" because of me? 8)

Seeing MiamiBando in this baseball thread reminds me . Miami's baseball coach left Oxford for Bloomington today. Tracy Smith was hired today as the new baseball coach at Indiana. So yet another successful Miami coach moves on to IU. We might have to start calling Miami, "Little Indiana U."

GO TEXAS...
Just as long as Nebraska doesn't win, I really don't care honestly. After living in Omaha for 7 years, I am sick of baseball and sick of the College World Series.
I am sorry but the combination of strikes and steroids in the pro game and the aluminum bats in the college game...baseball just isn't what it used to be.

I dont' care who wins as long as it isn't Nebraska. After living in Omaha for 7 LONG years I can't stand baseball, the College World Series, and anything Nebraska.
The combination of strikes and steroids has killed the pro game for me and I never could embrace the college game. I think the sound of aluminum bats just kept me away. It just doesn't sound natural, especially for guys playing at the college level.

Yeah, I know, I was trying to avoid that.... over on HawkTalk, they are deciding which coaches IU can have and which they can't. Indiana likes Miami so much, they think they ARE us. Miami U(Indiana) anyone?

Nebraska's out of it. It is down to Texas-Florida-Arizona State. Texas will probably win it, b/c it's a double elimination tournament, and they're the only ones without a loss.
I'll go ahead & root for Florida though, since Urban's down there. Longhorns just tick me off. Baylor & Texas were tied 3-3 at the top of the 9th. First pitch in the bottom of the 9th, some stupid T-sipper hits a home run.

It is a double elimination tournament until you make the championship game. When the two teams for the championship game are set (Texas vs UF/ASU), then it switches to a best of three series. Whichever team wins two games, regardless of a previous loss or not, wins the tournament. They did this for the NCAA softball series this season as well, where Michigan had one loss coming into the championship games and UCLA had zero. Both teams finished the tournament with two losses apiece, but since Michigan won the best of three series they were crowned the champs. Here is a link to how the bracket is set up.
